    D ifferent structuralbody movements

  • 8/6/2019 PE 1 Power Point LECTURE

    20/37

The body - has a wide variety of movements available to it,depending on the joint wherethe movement occurs.

  • 8/6/2019 PE 1 Power Point LECTURE

    21/37

Movement- occurs when a muscle ormuscles contract over joints andis dependent on the joint smobility and the location of the

muscle in relation to the joint.

  • 8/6/2019 PE 1 Power Point LECTURE

    22/37

The different types of movement have specificterms, often in pairs todescribe opposite

    movements.

    - Opposite of f lexion go back tonormal aanatomical position

  • 8/6/2019 PE 1 Power Point LECTURE

    25/37

H yperextension- occurs when the extension is

beyond 180. The neck ishyperextended when the chintilts up toward the ceiling.

    - Moving away from the body streamline

  • 8/6/2019 PE 1 Power Point LECTURE

    29/37

Adduction- is the reversal of this movement, bringing the limb back to the

median plane.- Moving back to normalanatomical body position

C ircumduction- is a circular movement of the joint, such as drawing a circle

with the arm and wrist straight. It is a combination of abduction, adduction, flexion andextension in a ball-and-socket joint.
