In the spirit of the first principle of miracles ldquoAll expressions of love are maximalrdquo (A Course in Miracles T-1I14)hellipit does not matter how superficial or significant an encounter is the content of love remains the same gently adapting to the form appropriate to the circumstance This consistency of love is the hallmark of true heroes and is what distinguishes them from those whose fear still blocks the free flow of love to all things of the world animate or inanimate large or small significant or insignificant - Kenneth Wapnik PhD (The Lighthouse Newsletter Vol 21 3 September 2010 pg 6) A Love that is all encompassing and passeth all understanding in this world is within us all This has direct meaning to me whenever I remember an experience I had on May 10 2005 of becoming aware of myself as not fully containable in a bodily form For a few brief minutes I unexpectedly experienced myself as one with a loving seamless Light that pervaded everything I had been prayerfully asking for help with severe chronic pain the day before and felt gifted with this experience as my answer This was not the first time I had experienced a loving Light as a powerful Presence The difference this time was that I experienced an all encompassing loving Light as one with my mind without any borders boundaries or limitations This may sound fanciful or hard to believe however once anyone has experienced themselves as not bound by space and time the idea of our oneness makes perfectly clear sense to use a cliche The irony here is that during the experience I had no awareness of any sensory limitations since without a body to contain a separate me ndash I did not need my five senses This experience changed my life as have many of the direct spiritual encounters I have experienced with non-physical realms of reality I have had countless encounters with non-physical beings that range from highly manipulative disturbed entities to extraordinarily loving divine presences ever since I had an unexpected psychic opening on August 1 1987 The creative mind can certainly imagine such things but direct experience can take such experiences out of the realm of imagination into a whole Mind awareness As with my seamless Light experience these outside of space and time events can occur unexpectedly and spontaneous as clair (French for clear) sense awarenesses They can also occur as part of an inner and outer world quest for the answer to meaning of life questions about the purpose our of existence This quest can quite literally take you out of this world and into a fuller understanding of why we are here including where we go when we leave this earthly existence

As a creative artist and healing arts practitioner and teacher I have read numerous accounts of other peoples unexpected meditative mind expanding or spiritual encounter experiences that occurred spontaneously Since a child I have known to stay away from any drug or alcohol chemically induced means or sought material world methods to achieve altered states of consciousness I must have sensed at an early age that I was a latent intuitive sensitive since it took very little exploration to open my mind up to expansive states of consciousness This unexpected ability has since been intentionally cultivated by spiritual studies and the consistent meditative practice of going within and asking for higher Self guidance from God Just as the suns light we each have within us a radiant light that can literally shed an illuminating Light on the purpose of our life To emphasize again this illumined mind awareness can occur without any mind-altering drugs or libations Heightened states of awareness can occur without ever leaving your home or having to climb a mountaintop in Tibet or Peru or travel to golden domed cathedrals in modern or ancient cities I will tell you that they do not come consistently or naturally by seeking ways to escape reality It is a road to confusion to seek mental distractions that take you away from the present moment Chemically induced mind numbing or addictive highs that are unsustainable are not the reliable path to a present moment enlightened awareness When enlightenment is sought without forced means as a fuller whole Mind awareness it can come quite naturally ndash today ndash right now Mindful awareness can occur daily from moment-to-moment on brief occasions or just once within a lifetime If fully understood as a transcendent understanding of the oneness of creation and our interconnectedness equality ndash once can be enough Once can be enough to no longer view time and space as limited The daily unmindful distractions that used to take me out of the present moment now do not have any appeal as desirable escapes I no longer count the hours until a workday is over or days until a holiday vacation comes It takes no time at all to see that past or future time limits spatial demarcations or place destinations are any permanent fixed points of reference ndash at any time or anywhere That can seem scary to anyone who thinks the unseen is threatening or unknowable Some of my students and clients have asked me what it is like to be an intuitive with clairvoyant clairaudient clairsentient clairgustant and clairscentist abilities This can be hard to describe using physical world references The best symbolic description I can offer is that I no longer see clear hard edge distinctions around objects or life forms but rather soft edges that appear more like shimmering glitter or dancing light like pixels on a computer or TV screen Sounds no longer are ones that I can only hear with just my physical ears alone
