Charles and Isabella Peacock came to South Florida from England in 1875. Six years later, they met Ralph Munroe who was visiting from Staten Island, NY. Still an isolated wilderness, Munroe said if they bought a piece of land and built a hotel, he would bring in the tourists. The Peacocks opened their

hotel in what came to be the Village of Coconut Grove. Now, nearly 130 years later, we’ve planted a verdant

tropical garden on this very ground. The Peacock Garden Cafe is our vision of the quintessential Coconut Grove restaurant.

We’re perfect for a delicious meal, a quick snack or maybe just an apéritif or glass of Prosecco

in our beautiful garden. And why not? Our chefs craft only the best and freshest ingredients,

adjacent parking is abundant and inexpensive, and our environment is lush and lovely.

The Peacock family thought so, and you will too.

Pan Am Havana Clipper

A detailed description of the splendid new Pan American Airport, now under construction at Dinner Key, which will be the most unique airport

in the world was presented at the Civic Club lunch at the Housekeeper’s Club on Thursday noon by B.W. Reeser, architect and engineer for Pan Am.

On a site extending out into the water from a broad central avenue, through beautifully landscaped

grounds, the terminal building, of steel and concrete and tile, severe and beautifully proportioned,

modernistic in architecture, will serve as a unique gateway between North and South America.

Restaurants, one on the balcony overlooking the bay, decks for watching the arrival and departure of the

fascinating great ships all are provided for.
