Business Tagline one of the ways of learning anything is to practice it, so learning English needs

practicing as much as possible. The next graph shows what the most places students are shy to

make mistakes in.

From looking at this graph, it is clear that 13 students said that they are shy of making mistakes in shops

and 10 participants are shy of making mistakes in with families and this was a surprising for me as a re-

searcher. The possible reasons for this might be because they feel less confident when they speak to native

speakers or probably because some people make fun of their mistakes. From the interviews, student B said

‘when I meet someone at the first time, I cannot speak fluently because I feel nervous, so I cannot control

my idea and I lose my vocabulary’. Additionally, participant C indicated that he cannot speak English with

his family because he is majoring in English, so they expect him to have the whole control in English and

when he makes mistakes they make fun on him. Generally, everyone makes a lot of mistakes in their lives,

so it is not the end of life. Therefore, be strong and know that you are still learning.

CONCLUSIONCONCLUSIONCONCLUSION

This study was about what the challenges that face international students in learning English. Also it was

interesting to know that some countries or nationalities are good in some skills than the others. For exam-

ple, Chinas are maybe good in writing and Saudis in speaking and so on. Additionally, maybe all nationali-

ties in this study agreed that the weakest skill is speaking and that the main reason usually for students to

come here to the UK is to be good speaker and also to make friends from the native speakers. Unfortunate-

ly, this skill has the least focus at CELE. On the other hand, some people said that it is the student respon-

sibility to make friends out of CELE and I think this is the kay point in developing English skills and also to

know more about other cultures. The most surprising finding is that some students are shy to make mis-

takes with their families and this might be because their families make fun of them when they make mis-

takes. As a result of this, they keep silent at home, which means no speaking and no progress. In general,

we learn from our mistakes, so do not shy of making mistakes because this is the way we learn.

Research into the most common methods of transport in Nottingham City.Research into the most common methods of transport in Nottingham City.Research into the most common methods of transport in Nottingham City.

Transports systems help connect people with the places they want to go.

ConclusionConclusion

This research study is to help international students obtain more information about transportation

facilities in Nottingham and to find out how to choose suitable transportation facilities from different

sides such as time, cost and society. The main results obtained that bus was the most common method

of transport for international students and most of them have problem with the bus information at the

bus stops. There are several implications for this. Students might find difficulties to understand bus

information and waste their time looking for right bus. Therefore, the solution for this may be by using

a simple layout which clarifies the path of each bus, and each of these paths should have a specific

colour and names of popular areas. On the other hand, the research also found that the majority of

participants did not know about the bicycles services in the campus and this might lead to lose

students the opportunity of practising cycling sport, in addition to save their time of travel to/from

campus. Therefore, it is strongly suggested that a more advertising required and also make discounts

for renting bicycles to students.

Recommendation for new studentsRecommendation for new studentsRecommendation for new students

1- The research advice to students want to travel outside Nottingham city to make online registration

in transport companies like National Express, because this registration gives students discount reach

up to 30% through a year.

2- This study encourages students to use bicycle instead of transport to/from campus on foot.

3- Students must be aware there are different types of bus tickets in Nottingham city and also if they

do not have tickets need to have change with them.

Description:Description:

Fitness Unit is a part of sport centre in Nottingham University Jubilee campus. Sport centre locat-

ed on the east side of campus, by the side of railroad. There is a Starbuck just near the front door.

It takes only 20 meters to Yen, Fujia building. The price of one-year member package is £135 for

membership who is student and £165 for non-student member. It open from 7 o’clock to 22.30 every

working days, and from 9 o’clock to 22 o’clock for every weekends.

Review:Review:

This sport centre really located on a brilliant place which is very wonderful to park their car, also

you can park your bicycle on the front of building. The next door is a medium scale of Starbucks, it

is nice to have a mug of hot milk after doing exercise. Members can use all facilities in centre, alt-

hough there is no swimming pool in Jubilee campus but do not let it discourage you, because you

can go to swimming pool in Nottingham University’s main campus via taking the free shuttle bus

between these two campuses which is called hopper bus.

When you enter the building, and enter the door on the right hand side, there are two large chang-

ing room for different gander, and also you can find several comfortable shower rooms in changing

room, you also can use the hair dryers if you need it. The water machine did not work for a few

weeks, but now it is ready for used, but if you forget to bring your own battle, otherwise you can

buy some drinks from vending machines in the aisle which are just near the water machine, and

there also have several benches.

The fitness Unit is on first floor with a whole well view, you would not feel doing exercise in a small

dark space. Although there is not much space for benches, but it is almost full with numerous excel-

lent training equipment. With plenty of facilities, you would not spend time on waiting. How excit-

ed to find those equipment be carefully maintained everyday so they looks like new. If you have any

problems on using the equipment, the guilders are available during the open time.

Conclusion:Conclusion:

Briefly, I recommend this fitness unit without hesitate, it is valuable even if you only use the fit-

ness unit, you can go to pool or join other sport clubs for free if you interesting in.

Very easy to register

Free of charge

Cons:Cons:

Long time stay on coach is tired

Can not walk around and take photos

Take a long ride

Description:Description:

The Nottinghamshire Sightseeing tour is a social event organized by the School of Education and

just for this department’s students only. The tour departs at 10:00 am from the Jubilee Campus,

and returns to the Campus around 4:00 pm by coach. The most important information is the cost

is free. This tour includes carious locations around Nottinghamshire, such as Sherwood Forest,

Nottingham Castle, Southwell, Newark and Wollaton Park. An experienced tour guide explains

the history and story about these venues.

Review:Review:

It is very easy to register on this tour. Students who belong to the School of Education depart-

ment can get the information form the university email or search the School of Education’s web-

site. Either way, it is can easy to book this tour for free.

Basically, the whole tour was sitting on the coach, and listening to the experienced tour guide

talking about the history and the story of the buildings and places. The regrettable part is we

could not have any opportunities to hop off the coach to take photographs.

Page 9: PEAP 2 Newsletter (Patterson) - term 1 (2014-2015)

At the first few hours was exciting to hear about all the new information. Nevertheless, after 3 or 4

hours, I was hungry and wanted to use the bathroom. In addition, we spend a lot of time heading to

the Sherwood Forest for lunch, which is a place in the countryside. I was a little bit disappointed be-

cause there was noting intertied me.

As a new student who recently arrived in Nottingham, this tour helped me to know more about the

locations around the city, allowing me to familiarize myself with the area. Additionally, it was a great

chance to meet new people, and make new friends here. What is more important was when I listen to

the tour guide; it was not only just learning English, but also understanding the British culture by

learning the history and the story from the knowledgeable tour guide.

In addition, this tour was certainly convenient and easy. The coach picked up students from the Jubi-

lee Campus, which is very close to my house. Thus, it is convenient when I return back home. Alt-

hough sitting on the coach the whole day was tiring, it is better than walking around the city in this

cold season.

Conclusion:Conclusion:

Overall, I would definitely highly recommend this event due to the fact that it is an extremely valua-

ble opportunity to know Nottingham city. It is a great chance to know more about Nottinghamshire,

meet some new people, and experience a different culture. For people who are interested in this type

of tour, it is better if you can check the information from the university email. You might find some

other tour is more suitable for you.

Description:Description:

Atrium Restaurant is an eco-design in Jubilee Campus. It is also in the centre of the university. In

addition, it has two gates; the main entrance overlooks a small lake while the back door overlooks

the university buildings. As a matter of fact, most of the users are students and tutors. So, prices,

which start 0.70 pence to 3 pounds, may be suitable for students. There is a self-service when you

want to hot drink.

Review:Review:

This restaurant is a suitable location for eating lunch, because it is located in the central Jubilee

Campus. Moreover, it is easy to find because it has two entrances. Additionally, there are two shop

sign above doors. Also, the restaurant is a very comfortable from the inside, whereas it lacks some

colours that may add the glamor to the place. Furthermore, the tables and chairs, which are ar-

ranged in a very beautiful, also it accommodates approximately 800 consumers.

Page 9

Review 3

The food is really delicious in this restaurant, but it has no new meals, thus people get bored. In

fact, a meal, which includes one chicken sandwich, chips, salad and coca cola, costs around £7.90.

Also, there is a free glass of water with a meal or when the customer spends around £4. On the oth-

er hand, drinks are extremely bad because there are no fresh juices. Indeed, drinking a cup of coffee

is a bad idea even though there is a good coffee machine. This is due to the quality of the coffee that

is available there.

In general, the services are a very good and the staff are friendly. In addition to this, there is a good

heater that gives us warmth, as well as free Wi-Fi.

In fact, the time of lunch is limited between 12 and 2 in this restaurant, and this time is a rush

time, thereby there is no enough time to buy anything. Therefore, this is the biggest problem that I

suffer in the restaurant, in that I stood in the queue around half an hour. This is considered a

waste of the time.

Conclusion:

To sum up, I would definitely recommend this restaurant. It has good service and good food. I sug-

gest coming early to avoid delays getting to class.
