MLK Day Activities in Henry County Activities are set in Paris for Sunday and Monday January 14th and 15th to commemorate the birthday of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. A gospel singing will take place Sunday night at 6pm at Mt. Zion Church, located at 401 Irvine St. Several local church choirs will be on hand along with the University of Tennessee at Martin choir, the Voices of Harmony. On Monday, the Prayer Breakfast will be held at Central School Cafeteria on Jones Bend Road from 7am to 9:30am. The March to the Courthouse begins from Rison St. shortly before 10am and the program will be held at the courthouse at 10am. Everyone is invited to participate during the activities.

World’s Biggest Fish Fry Pageants The Paris/Henry County Jaycees will be presenting the 65th An-nual World’s Biggest Fish Fry Pageants on Saturday, January 20th and Sunday, January 21st at KPAC, which is located at 650 Volunteer Drive in Paris. Start-ing on Saturday the Tiny Tot Pageant for kids ages 4 and 5 will be held at 10am, the Little Miss Pageant for kids ages 6 and 7 will be held at 11am and the Junior Queen Pageant for kids ages 8 and 9 will be held at 2pm. The Miss Pre-Teen Pageant for kids ages 10 to 12 will be held at 4pm, the Miss Teen pageant for contestants ages 13 to 15 will be held at 5:30pm and the Hostess Princess Pag-eant for contestants ages 16 to 20 will begin at 7:30pm. On Sunday the Tiny Tot Pageants will start off with the boys and girls ages birth to 6 months pageant which will begin at 1:30pm, the boys and

girls ages 7 to 11 months pageant will be held at 2pm, boys and girls aged 1 year pageant will be held at 2:30pm, boys and girls aged 2 years pageant will be held at 3pm and the Tiny Tots pageant will wrap up with the girls aged 3 years old pag-eant which will be held at 3:30pm.

Free Computer Classes The W.G. Rhea Public Library will have free computer classes in January starting this week. Classes are free to the public, just call the library at 642-1702 to sign up. Frozen Pipes Prevention Tips With the winter season here comes possibility of frozen water pipes. Here are helpful hints as you think of preventing frozen water pipes in your home: make sure the foundation to your house or mobile home is air-tight and that foundation vents are closed, disconnect garden hoses, leave a small stream of hot and cold water run-ning from an inside faucet (when tem-peratures drop below 20 degrees Fahren-heit) and make sure you and your family know the location of your home’s water shut-off valve.
