Ice Cream Social & Antique Car Show The Downtown Paris Associa-tion would like to invite you to the 7th Annual Downtown Ice Cream Social and Antique Car Show on Saturday, July 30th, from 4 pm to 7 pm on historic Court Square in downtown Paris. Spon-sored by the Downtown Paris Associa-tion, this annual fundraiser benefits the Henry County Young Professionals and the DPA. The Ice Cream eating contests are sponsored by Comer Farms. Adult Leadership Carroll County Class The Carroll County Chamber of Commerce is now accepting applications for the 2016 Adult Leadership Carroll County class. Leadership Carroll County (LCC) consists of nine sessions, a com-munity service project, etc. The sessions include information on Health Care, Government Operations, Education, County Demographics, Economic Devel-opment, Agriculture, Professional De-velopment and much more. The dates of the sessions are August 18th, September 1st, September 15th, September 22nd, October 6th, October 20th, November 3rd, and November 17th. All sessions are from Noon until 6 p.m. except the September 22nd session, which will be most of the day and into the evening. The Chamber has been operating Leadership Programs since 1990 and more than 660 individuals have gone through both the Adult and Youth Programs. The dead-line for the application is Friday, August 15th. The tuition for participating in the program is $275.00 Tuition includes all program costs and meals associated with the sessions. Nights on Broadway continues Saturday evening with music being provided by The Tennessee River Band. Nights on Broadway is the last Saturday of the month, May – Sep-tember and is held on the square in McKenzie. The McKenzie Farmer’s Market continues to sell local produce in the old City Hall building, across from the Fire Department. Local farmers provide several types of local produce and the market is open on Friday, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. and again on Saturday from 7 a.m. until Noon.

Dixie Student Art Exhibit The very first Dixie Student Art Exhibit wil be on display in the Ballroom Gallery of The Dixie Carter Performing Arts & Academic Enrichment Center, beginning in August. The exhibition is a collection of student work from studio art classes taught at The Dixie during the 2015-2016 season. Students who participated in Photography, Drawing and Pottery, were given the opportunity to participate in the show. Students range from ages 4 years old to adult, from Carroll and surrounding counties. Photography Instruc-tor, Jim Veneman, Pottery Instructor, Lori Nolen and Drawing Instructor, Laura DeVille, encouraged their students to share the results of their hard work, outside the classroom. Instruc-tors hope to make a student exhibit an annual part of the Ball-room Gallery lineup.

Elections Henry County Administrator of Elections DeLaina Green wants voters to understand that if you do not want to declare a party, you can still come and vote for all the offices on the County General Election ballot. The only time you must declare which political party is if you wish to vote in the state primary which is also being held in conjunction with this election. Voters can get the full county ballot without having to declare a political party affiliation. Early Voting continues this week at the Election Commission Office, 8:30am to 4:30pm weekdays and 9am to Noon this Saturday July 30th, which is the last day of Early Voting.

Tennessee Gov. Bill Haslam and Economic and Community Development Commissioner Randy Boyd along with Eurotranciatura USA officials spoke this week at the plant as the manufacturer is investing $12.6 million to expand its operations in Paris over the next five years. Eurotranciatura, a subsidiary of the world’s largest steel lamination company for electrical rotating machines, will create more than 170 new jobs as part of the expansion. Eurotranciatura’s investment includes upgrades and new equipment for its existing manufacturing plant in Henry County. Eurotranciatura will also build a roughly 30,000 square foot distribution warehouse near its current plant to accommodate growth and reduce transportation costs. In 2014, Eurotranciatura acquired the lamination division of Tecumseh, based at 2700 W. Wood St. in Paris. The company recently completed its purchase of Tecumseh’s former building in Henry County.

Bring beans and water to a boil, reduce heat and simmer for 10 min-utes. Drain and set beans aside. In large skillet, saute garlic in butter until light brown. Add beans, salt and pepper. Heat through.
