Fleet-tec selects Peplink for innovative internet, entertainment and security solution for
mobile homes
4G service and VPN bonding deliver reliable and flexible IP services
UK – 12th February 2015 - Peplink, a leader in developing internet load balancing and VPN bonding solutions,
has announced that its partner Fleet-tec has developed an innovative service to help Mobile Home owners
gain access to pay-TV services, reliable internet connectivity and enhanced CCTV security while on the road
and at camp sites.
Fleet-tec, part of the K&M (Acoustics) group is a highly respected innovator in vehicle technology working with
a wide portfolio of commercial bus, coach and haulage companies as well as thousands of private customers.
As an early adopter and installer of entertainment systems within vehicles, Fleet-tec has evaluated a number
of technologies over its 20 year history and as Keith Stockley, sales director for Fleet-tec explains, “The arrival
of reliable 4G mobile networks has allowed us to unlock a huge number of new services and the Peplink HD
series provides both reliability and flexibility to deliver many of these connected innovations.”
Fleet-tec offers a new integrated offering for Mobile Homes that allow owners to create a mobile broadband
hotspot complete with redirection of traditional services running within the fixed home such as SKY and Virgin
Media pay-TV services, Spotify and Netfl ix. The system also has optional CCTV cameras with movement
sensors to provide remote monitoring within and around the vehicle with notification and viewing to smart
mobile devices to provide owners with peace of mind when away from the vehicle.
Fleet-tec uses a Peplink HD2 to provide a rock solid VPN connection using a mixture of two 4G mobile
broadband providers plus Wi -Fi as WAN all managed by Fleet-tec which has the ability to connect to local Wi -Fi
hotspots to provide enhanced connectivity for each vehicle. Fleet-tec also provides installation of a gateway
device at the mobile home owner’s premise providing connectivity to the home entertainment services that
are routed over the 4G VPN network to the vehicle.
“Each home owner is effectively using the services they already pay for such as satell ite and cable TV while on
the road with the Peplink unit providing a reliable l ink and local mobile Broadband access,” says Stockley. Each
unit also has an optional GPS and is installed within a secure fixture including local hard disk storage for CCTV
footage and downloaded content to provide a complete mobile entertainment, security and internet access
solution.”
“The Peplink unit can also support multiple 3G/4G connections for customers who want more bandwidth and
the unit can be easily managed to intell igently allocate resources for the different services running to ensure
that video streaming or remote CCTV viewing gains priority when it is needed,” Stockley adds.
To date, Fleet-tec has installed its Mobile Home Infotainment solution within a number of vehicles and is
planning to extend the technology to its commercial coach and bus customers.
