About the Institute
The great visionary & philanthropist Hon. Vilasrao Deshmukh founded Manjara
Charitable Trust in the year 1988. In 1992, the Trust started the college of Engineering at
Airoli (Navi Mumbai) to meet the demand of engineering & technocrats in the country.
The institute was renamed as Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Technology & shifted to the
permanent campus in 2002.

About Department of Computer Engineering.
The department of Computer engineering was established in the year 1995. The prime
focus of the department is imparting quality practical education. Our students are of high
caliber and set to redefining the world of computing. The department gives equal
importance to curricular and co-curricular activities for fostering the overall development
of the students. The department conducts various seminars for preparing them for various
aptitude tests and interviews Intake Capacity UG 120 seats. Department has PG in

Computer Network and Information Security with an intake of 18 since 2014 and PhD in
Computer Engineering with an intake of 10 since 2017. Moreover, the department
organizes different training programs like campus connect initiated by Infosys and other
leading industries. The department has departmental library which has all the important
textbooks, conference proceeding and journal. This is besides the central library which is
very well equipped. The faculty actively participates in research and consultancy work.
The department has always been on a high growth path a nd has experienced and
dedicated faculty with a strong commitment to engineering education.
About Department of Information Technology
Information Technology is an interdisciplinary field primarily concerned with the
analysis, collection, classification, manipulation, storage, retrieval and dissemination of
information. To create the Information Technocrats, Rajiv Gandhi Institute of
Technology pioneer the Department of Information Technology in the year 2002 with the
sanctioned intake of 60 students. The course is approved by AICTE, New Delhi, affiliated
to University of Mumbai and ISO 9001-2008 certified. The department at RGIT is
creating tomorrow's knowledge society.
Students, faculty, and staff collaborate to unite technology, people, and information to
make a fundamental difference in this knowledge society, a society in which citizens
collaboratively and freely create and share knowledge and utilize information and
technology to promote growth, prosperity, and well-being.
The main focus of the department is to produce graduates with strong fundamentals in
Information Technology domain. There is a distinct entrepreneurial spirit in the students
of the department. The department has well equipped classrooms and computer

laboratories with high-end systems. Moreover, it has a rich departmental library. The
department also has a Student Body named ABIT.
About the FDP :
A one week faculty development program on “Machine Learning with IOT” in
association with Educational Partner, Wiley India was held at the Department of
Computer Engineering and Information Technology of Rajiv Gandhi Institute of
Technology on 16-20 December 2019. The FDP aims to provide opportunities to
faculty members, research scholars and post graduate students to enrich their teaching
skill and research in the field of Machine Learning, Data Science, Python, R Language
and IoT. The FDP also intends to develop the knowledge of participants for advanced
software in the relevant field for inculcating learning values in students and guiding and
monitoring their progress.
Objectives of the FDP:
1. To explore the Faculty/ Research Scholars/ Students in emerging technologies in the
areas of Machine Learning & IoT. This FDP provides practical foundation level
training that enables immediate and effective participation in ML & IoT projects.
2. To introduce about machine learning and algorithms. Participants will develop a
basic understanding of the principles of machine learning and derive practical
solutions.
3. To explore basics of IoT devices, Sensors, Protocol and hands-on on various IoT
application.
4. To demonstrate Home Automation application of ML with IoT.

There were total 100 participants, 36 participant from all over India, 16 from Institute’s
other branches and around 40 participant from Computer Engineering and Information
and Technology Department.

Lighting of Lamp, saraswati poojan an Inauguration day
The program started with the Saraswati Poojan and Lighting of lamp in front of all
mighty. Followed by felicitation of all guest.
Dr. Sharmila Gaikwad, FDP Coordinator address the FDP Participant and
discussed the objectives and outcome of this FDP shae also explains 5 days
Schedule for the FDP. Prof. (Dr.) Sunil Wankhade, HOD of IT gave speech on IoT
in brief. Then Prof. (Dr.) Satish Y. Ket, HOD of Computer engineering brief about
Theme of FDP. Vice Principal, Dr. Sanjay Deshmukh congratulated the FDP team
for such a huge number of participant for FDP and extended his wish for successful
completion of the FDP. Followed by speech from guest of Honors and chief guest.
At the end of inauguration function Prof. Nilesh Rathod extends vote of thanks to

A discussion on an Overview of Machine Learning with IoT was delivered by Mr. Ranjeet
Walunj.

This session was conducted by Prof. (Dr.) Anand Khandare. He explain about real time
problems on Machine learning with R- Language and Python. He demonstrated with live data
set how to handle operation on data.

This session was conducted by Wiley Author , Mrs. Anuradha D. she explained about
Statistics of ML, Vector, Probability. She have given examples on Machine Learning
Algorithm, Supervised unsupervised, Reinforcement Learning Techniques, she also explained
about the Best algorithms for ML

Day 2 (17-12-19) Session II
This session was full of practices Mr. santosh chaneri from SFIT COE explained
how to work with Python data science packages including Numpy,
Pandas, Scikit and Matplotlib. He further demonstrated its installation also
made all participants to learn and practice the installation of Nympy, pandas, scikit
and matplotlib. He explained about ML with Python. And also conducted a quiz for
all the participant.

Day 3 (18-12-19) Session I
Dr. Amiya Tripathi explains about Introduction to IoT. He explain his Research
work related to IoT and its application for farmers. Sir explained about his
research projects carried out in collabor ation with Australia, Thailand and Japan.

Second session was conducted by Dr. S. K. Shinde. He explain data analytics and
its uses in a machine learning.

Mr. Niket servaiya, director pitcon have demonstrated the atomization of Entire seminar
hall with use of machine learning algorithms. All enjoyed this demonstration and
participated activity in the and participant atomization process.

This is of FDP was conducted by Dr. Shriram Vasudeven from Amrita College of Engg,
coimbotore.
Sir have explain all his research project in such a simple way. All participants were very
much attentive durning the entire session.

Day 4 (19-12-19) Session II and III
This session was conducted by Mr. Sachin sadre. He have taken hands on practical session
with raspberry pi and sensors and hand on kit. He also demonstrated few projects and also
made the participant to practice on the kits. He explained installation of kit, making kit
and pc interfacing, installation of OS on kit. Then simple printing hello program and so on.

Day 5 (20-12-19) Session I
This session was conducted by Prof. Yogesh Pingle, sir have taken practical session on
ArdnoUno kits and demonstrated few projects and given a quiz for the session.
Before proceeding to the valedictory function Technical Team have conducted a quiz on
the entire FDP course. Assignment Mini Project was discussed

The honorable personalities present in this occasion were , Dr. Sanjay Bokade,

Dr. Satish Y. Ket summarized the program. All the personalities appreciated the
department for organizing the Faculty development program.
FDP Coordinator Dr. sharmila Gaikwad announced the winners of Quiz conducted
and Principal Sir distributed the prizes to the winners. The program was ended with

OUTCOME:
All the sessions were very much informative. The discussed areas are of great benefit for
the participants as the topics match with the current working domain. Participants
were enlightened with the most widely used advance technologies in ML algorithm on
real time problems. The participant will be able to understand the usability of the IoTs
across various real-world applications. They can design different application and
communication protocols for IoTs and will be able to design solutions for several
applications using IoTs by integrating machine learning.
