Detailer - • Officer’s advocate;
– ensure career and personal concerns are balanced with the needs of the Navy;
– advocate for all subspecialties; – career counseling; – career management/assignments.

Duties of the Detailer: • Negotiate and write orders • Communicate with the Specialty Leaders • Counsel constituents before and after boards • Nominate members to sit on boards • Visit commands to speak with constituents

• Valid billet (1 billet = 1 body) – Career needs of the Officer – Personal needs of the Officer

2015 Graduating Intern Class Stats
• 258 started internship 2014 – 110 accepted straight-thru residency (103 FTIS / 7 FTOS) – 9 Continuous Contracts (6 FM, 2 Psych, 1 Neuro Surg) – 60 accepted Flight Surgery training – 17 accepted UMO training – 62 assigned to GMO tours
• Size of 2016 graduating class is 258

– Second tour GMOs get priority • First come, first served for GMO Assignments

• There are no bad assignments, downstream
will be provided for visibility of available billets

GMO ASSIGNMENT • GMO assignments are made after GMESB results
are released on 16 DECEMBER. • Projected call-in date (s):
– 20 Dec 15 for non-selects – 04 / 05 Jan 16 for everyone else.
• Once you select a GMO assignment you are no longer eligible for Residency, Flight Surgery or Undersea Medicine Training.

• Be prepared to make your decision regarding GMO after GMESB results are released on 17 DECEMBER. – Info detailer on training acceptances and declinations. – Those desiring GMO orders should contact detailer immediately. – Consider risk on waiting for training offer from alternate list,
GMO opportunities will be shrinking. – Detailer cannot negotiate GMO orders until you have declined all
training offered. – Not eligible for any training offer after accepting GMO orders.

FLIGHT SURGERY AND UNDERSEA MEDICINE
• If accepting Flight Surgery (FS) or Undersea Medicine Officer (UMO): – Rank class preferences
• FS: July, September, or November • UMO: July or January • Provide reasons for preferences!
– Requirement to level-load classes

• Stash assignments awaiting FS/UMO
– Up to the member and their command – No orders from PERS for these assignments – Can go no cost TAD depending upon command needs

Miscellaneous Items
• Delays in internship may limit options. – Cannot “hold” a billet indefinitely.
• No such thing as “one-year” billets. • Non-deployable billets do not exist! • Advancement deferment can be waived.
– Eligible persons should contact detailer in early January.
