Personal Data: Suseno Kramadibrata, was born in Jakarta, Indonesia on 25 February 1954. He is

married and has two sons and four grandchildren. 1981, BSc from the Dept. of Mining Eng. (DME)

Institut Teknologi Bandung (ITB). 1989, MSc. from the Western Australia School of Mines, Kalgoorlie,

Australia. 1996, PhD. from the School of Civil Engineering, Curtin University, Australia. He was a full

time lecturer in the DME ITB from 1981 to 2013. Since 2014 he has been a Visiting Lecture (Associate

Professor) of the DME ITB for Rock Mechanics & Mine Safety and has been the COO of Bumi

Resources Minerals Mining Holding Company since 2010.

During his tenure in ITB he was the Manager Laboratory of Geomechanics & Mining Equipment of the DME ITB

(2007-2013), Board of Reviewer of the Research Committee of the ITB (2009-2013), and became Associate Professor in

October 2005. In 1987 he was awarded the Third Class Honour of the Best Lecturer of the Year of ITB and in 1997 he

received the First Class Honour of the Best Lecturer of the Year, Faculty of Mineral Technology of ITB. His hobby is

swimming, hiking, and reading history.

Professional Background: He was a Research Fellow of Brodie Hall Research Centre Curtin University, Australia in

1989-1994. In the period of 1998-2000 he was involved in the Ombilin underground coal mine project development of

Bukit Asam. From 2000 to 2002 he was the Director of Technology of Rio Tinto Indonesia. He became the General

Manager HSE of the biggest Open Pit Coal Mine in Indonesia, Kaltim Prima Coal within 2003-2006. From 2013 to 2017

he was the President Director & CEO of Indonesia Mining Holding Company (Bumi Resources Minerals).

Research Interest in Rock Mechanics & Rock Engineering: In the period of 1999-2012, Suseno established a long

term collaborative research between DME ITB and Dept. of Earth Resources Engineering, Faculty of Engineering,

Kyushu Univ. Japan on Rock Engineering issues in Underground Coal & Gold Mines & Open Pit Coal Mines in

Indonesia and within which period (February 2000) a Study on estimation of initial in-situ stress condition using AE

method with cored rock samples was carried out together with National Institute for Resources and Environment (NIRE),

Tsukuba, Japan; He also gave International course lecturer of Geotechnical Assessment for Open Pit Mines in Tropical

Countries, in Singapore in 2008 and 2009; He visited severals Rock Mechanics/Geotechnical/Rock Engineering

Laboratories in: UWA (Perth, Australia); UNSW (Sydney, Australia); Monash Univ. & CSIRO (Melbourne, Australia);

Wollongong Univ. (Australia); Voest Alpine Fordertechnik (Zeltweg, Austria); Klausthal Univ. (Germany); National

Technical Univ. (Athens, Greece); Kyushu Univ. (Fukuoka, Japan); Kumamoto Univ. (Kumamoto, Japan); NIRE

(Tsukuba, Japan); CSM (Denver, USA); Utah Univ. (Salt Lake City, USA); McGill Univ. (Montreal, Canada): KIGAM

(Daejeon, S. Korea) and, SNU (Seoul, S. Korea); He designed and manufactured of not less than 40 testing equipment for

laboratory tests and field tests related to Rock Mechanics, Mechanical Excavation, Rock Drilling, Rock Blasting, Mine

Transportation, as well as Ventilation.

Academic & Publications: Suseno has also been the authors and co-authors of not less than 225 publications such as,

Research Report (Indonesia, Australia, Japan); Scientific Papers (Journals, Proceedings, Conferences, Seminars) in

Indonesia, Australia, China, Japan, Korea, Greek, Turkey, Austria, Germany, Poland, Sweden, US, Canada, India,

Singapore; Key Note Speakers (Indonesia, Australia, Japan and Korea); and Guest Lecture (Indonesia-11, Japan-7,

Korea-4). His papers have been cited by not less than 179 papers including scientific papers, research reports, Master

Theses and PhD Dessertations. He together with his colleagues published a Book of Rock Mechanics (Indonesian) and 9

Lecture Notes; 6) He was an Academic Supervisor of not less than 150 Undergraduate students of ITB, more than 20

Master Students and 5 PhD Students of ITB. He was invited to be an International External Examiner of 2 Master

Students and 12 PhD Students of School of Civil Engineering, Curtin Univ. Australia and a Reviewer of 1 PhD Student

of the Dept. of Earth Resources Engineering, Kyushu Univ. Japan. He also has been a reviewer for Bulletin of

Engineering Geology and the Environment (BOEG), Korean Society for Geosystem Engineering, International Journal of

Mining Engineering and Mineral Processing, and Journal of Rock Mechanics and Geotechnical Engineering (publication

of the Institute of Rock and Soil Mechanics, Chinese Academy of Sciences).

Professional Association: In the period of 2014-2015, he was the Team Leader of Working Group for Establishing

Indonesian Standard Competency on Geotechnical Engineer. Between 1991-2010, he was the Chairman of Geotechnical

Working Group of Indonesian Mining Professional Association. In 2018 he became a Certified Indonesian Executive

Professional Engineer (IPU) of Association of Indonesian Engineer (PII).

ISRM: From 2007 up to now, Member of International Society for Rock Mechanics (ISRM) and he has been the

President of Indonesian Rock Mechanics Society (IRMS) since 2008. From 2016 up to present he has been a Member

Commission on Testing Methods of International Society for Rock Mechanics (ISRM). He attended the ISRM Council

Meetings, ISRM Commission on Testing Methods Meetings and ISRM Asia Group Council Meetings. He also organized

and the Chairman of the ARMS9 in Indonesia in October 2016.
