The 2015/2016 SPE-Piedmont Coastal Section year is beginning and I would like to welcome everyone back.

My name is Leon Suttles and I have the privilege of serving as President of the section. I am looking forward to working with the great board of directors we have this year.

During our summer planning meeting we identified a number of interesting tour opportunities, and a tentative calendar is included in the newsletter. Updates will be made throughout the year as we finalize details and confirm tours.

This year the Annual Martin A. “Marty” Ryba Memorial SPE Golf Outing is be-ing held on September 8, 2015. Jackie Ryba and Walt Carey have done another fantastic job organizing this great event. I ask that you help support their efforts with attendance and hole sponsorships. Contact information and details are included in the newsletter.

Last year was very successful for the Piedmont-Coastal section. We earned the Pinnacle Award (Gold) from the national SPE office. We also enjoyed growth in membership and increased participation at monthly meetings. I want to thank all of our members for helping us to accomplish that. One of my goals for the year is to see that continue. I ask that you please help us by identifying potential new members and interesting locations for monthly meetings.

I have a major goal for the next year to see more participation and interaction with students and young professionals. We have great opportunities for our young professionals to learn valuable leadership skills within our organization. Our meetings are a great place for networking with professionals who have been in the plastics industry for many years.

Thank you all for supporting our chapter.

Our Section’s annual golf outing, known as The Martin A. “Marty” Ryba Memorial Golf Outing, is scheduled for Tuesday, September 8th at The Preserve at Jordan Lake Golf Club in Chapel Hill. This is the club we have had our outing for the last several years. It is a good test of golf skills, but more importantly our outing presents each and every golfer the opportunity to win $100 on each golf hole. By the time this newslet-ter reached you, the opportunity to save $10.00 per golfer for early registration will have expired. As I indicated in earlier issues of the newslet-ter, The Preserve Golf Club will no longer take credit cards for our early golf outing registrants this year. We were able to set up credit card payments for our golfers and hole sponsors through SPE headquarters. Those who have utilized the website to register have told me that the process is quite simple and very easy to use. For those of you who plan to play, but have not registered, I urge each of you to go to the web-site, https://eiseverywhere.com/ehome.129503 and register NOW. The course should be in excellent shape since the greens will have been reseeded and our outing will be the first group to play on the new greens! It should be a marvelous time. If you have any questions, please feel free to give me a call at (919) 631-9202. I look forward to seeing all of you golfers on Tuesday, September 8th for a noon shotgun start.Best regards to everyone --- Walt CareyP-C Section, SPE Golf Outing Co-chairperson
