You trudge towards your car after a long and stressful day at work.“I’ll skip dinner and go straight to bed,” you said to yourself. You don’t even have enough any energy left to pull the belt. As soon as you buckled up, you started your carand drove away.

As you were drowsily traversing the road, a golden yellow-painted building and a signboard designed with purple ornaments which reads, “Cafe Boutique” caught your attention. You let it passand gave a nonchalant shrug, but the signage and the golden yellow color reverberated your mind.“I’ll just take a quick peek,” you uttered.

While drawing nearer, you marvelled at the picturesque setup — scenes you can only see intelevision commercials. Figures of what seem to be people chatting, laughing and seemingly enjoying what’sin front of them filled the well-lit and vibrant room. You have to feed not only your growing curiositybut also your growing appetite. You step out of your car... and that’s when the magic started...

The signage says “Petalo: Cafe Botique.” “Petalo?” you wondered. A sweet-scented smell raided yournostrils as you opened the door. Shades of pink adorned with gold mouldings glamorized the area.The grandeur is overwhelming that you almost feel like you’re in a fairy tale.

You further walked inside and much to your surprise, there’s more than what you’ve already seen.Queen Victoria’s influence is palpable: Victorian lamps, utensils, teawares, furnitures, and what have you.You are overly impressed that you want to immediately write a review of this place.

The other table just finished their meal and the waiter laid in front of them an assortment of desserts.You saw chocolate bombs poured with treacly syrup, cupcakes, cheesecakes and other treats whichare new to your eyes. You also overheard that there are handmade chocolates.

But your attention was abruptly diverted to the multitudinous scents that were filling the room.In one area, you saw a group of people enjoying their cups and pastries. Your mind recognized that familiar smell. “Definitely Turkish coffee and chamomile tea,” you muttered.

You switched your attention to the other table and you saw people feasting on some mouth-wateringmeals. The presentation is as good as the food, you assume, because you can only see satisfactionfrom the face of the people eating them. You cannot help but salivate on what you are seeing.

“Excuse me,” you heard a man’s voice from behind. You moved out of the doorway and thoughthow long were you standing in amazement. The man went to an area where there was a plethora of flowers. The man bought a bouquet, probably for the missus.

You thought that that was the last thing the place could offer but was proven wrong. Dozens of cakeswere on display, ranging from fondant to cake pops. There was also a large wedding cake beingprepared. At this moment, you are agitated and cannot wait to have a piece of this place’s wonder.

You walked back to your car feeling blissful after eating to your heart’scontent. Not only did you feed your appetite, but your eyes and mindas well. You gave a final glance before riding your car. Again, you readthe signage “Petalo Cafe Boutique.” “Petalo...” you whispered.

“... this is probably the closest thing to a bed of roses.”
