This course provides an intensive hands-on introduction to the configuration and operation of Cisco and Juniper switches. Students will perform command-line configuration of Layer 2 switches and analyze the results of those configurations. Course topics include IOS commands and functions, advanced IP addressing, switch-based network design concepts and standards. Lab topics include: switch configuration and operation, administration of port security, implementing VLANs (virtual local area networks) in a multi-switch environment, trunking, IP configuration, ether-channel, link aggregation, configuring IGMP snooping, and the Spanning Tree protocol..
