    March and April Newsletter, 1968

    Dear

    Brothers

    and Sisters in Christ,

    Praises

    be

    to our wonderful Lord for

    the

    wonderful

    trip

    He saw fit

    to grant

    us.

    Mr. Mrs,

    Robert

    Snyder

    took us, along

    with

    62

    barrels and boxes

    of

    teaching mat erials

    and clothes, to

    New

    York, There, ve

    boarded the

    S. S,

    United

    States and

    had a

    very nice trip. Janice

    was

    sick

    the first

    2 | days

    and

    the last day

    and

    a half. She

    had eaten something that didn't

    agree

    with her

    both times,

    but

    this didn't

    spoil

    our trip

    at all.

    We

    all

    had a wonderful

    time. Upon

    arrival in

    Bremerhaven,

    7

ays later, we boarded a train and trav

    eled all night to

    the

    southern

    part

    of

    Germany

    to the

    Black Forest

    where the

Phillips labored for the Lord d uring their

    first

    term of service.

    We arrived

    in

    Calw about

    noon

    and Fran Kahlke met us

    with

    open arms.

    Then she

    invited

    us

    to dinner. YumnQrl

    It was

    delicicusi She had

    tomato sauce

    over

    noodles.

    After

    eating more

    than enough, w e set

    out

    in

    search of

    an apart

    ment.

    There was none to

    be

    found. We walked

    and

    walked and

    walked

    only to

    ret\irn

    to

    our hotel

    room in despair. But

    each day,

    after

    having prayer and

    devotions, the

    Lord

    gave

    us

    strength

    to go

    on.

    After much searching—for 8 days—we sent Alva t o

    Gechingen

    to try

    to find

an apartment. There he found three. No one was home at

    the

    first

    apartment.

    The

    second

    party

    asked

    him t o

    ccme back

    at noon on

    Friday

    (the

    next day).

    And

    the

    third party

    said,

    "Yes,

    you

    may rent

    it,

    but

    we

    don't

have it all decorated." We told them

    that

    was okay

    and that

    w e would take it

as it was. So we're now getting settled—well, at least we're making an

    attempt at it.

    Our apartment has

    a larg e kitchen

    and

    a larg e livingroo n.

    We have

    only

    one

    bedroom

    which

    is

    small.

    Then we have

    a half

    of

    a room

    which

    serves

    as Debbie's

    bedrocm,

    a full bath,

    and

    only

    cold

    running

    water. But

    we're

    blessed with

the most wonderful landlord for which we thank God.

    Sherry received the second

    apartment. At

    first

    her landlord was

    very

    skeptical,

    but he

    soon

    changed his mind and

    has

    been

    helping Sherry

    fur

    nish

    her apartment. In less than

    a month, she

    will

    be

    sharing her

    apartment

    with

    a

    summer worker.

    Miss Linda Rcmesburg.

    This

    will be

    so

    nice, as

    they

    each will have

    their own bedroom and

    share a

    livingroom

    and kitchen.

    That

    apartment

    has

central heating and hot running water. We truly thank

    God

    for

    guiding us

    to

    it.

    So

    far,

    we have

    been unable to find an

    adequate place

    in which to

    hold the Children's

    Bible

    Hour.

    Please

    pray

    along

    with us that the

    Lord

    will

    open

    doors

in this area. We have been asked to come to

    Augenbach

    and

    hold

    services.

    Praise

    be

    to God. This is

    a

    town up in the mountains

    about

    a

^5 minute drive from us and these people have four children.

    Isn't the

    Lord

    wonderful

    Please pray that

    great

    things

    can and will

    be

    done

    in

    this

    area.
