School / Work / Life Balance

You’re “only” in 15 hours of class per week.

A good rule of thumb: for every hour you’re in class, you should be devoting another hour to preparing for that class, doing assignments for that class, etc.

So, 15 hour in class + 15 hours of study = 30 hours a week.

Another good rule of thumb: don’t take a job that demands more than 10-15 hours a week. (30 + 15 = 45).

PS: On-campus jobs are great!

What if you Need Help?

(1) Having problems? If you’re experiencing any academic or personal problems, tell your instructors about them ASAP. Often, some “leeway” can be made for assignments/tests. If your situation affects more than one course, talk to the program director or assistant immediately.

(2) If you become ill, have your doctor sign a Ryerson Medical Certificate immediately. You can use the Ryerson Clinic too.
