7. HOW IS IT USED?

When light waves enter a piece of glassat an angle, one part of the wave willreach the glass before another and sowill start slowing down first.

The effect on light is the same as it entersthe glass at an angle, it bends in one

direction. In a standard converging, orconvex lens, one or both sides of theglass curves out. In a double convexlens, such as a magnifying glass, the lightwill bend when it exits as well as when itenters.

This effectively reverses the path of lightfrom an object. A converging lens takesthose rays and redirects them so theyare all converging back to one point. Atthe point where the rays converge, youget a real image of the candle
