Page 1: Photo Shoot test

• For the photo shoots session I’ve practised for the actual pictures that I’ll take for my magazine. I’ve mostly focused on mid-shots and on different poses that could be used for the magazine. As I’m still not really sure of what genre my magazine will be, I’ve just taken neutral shoots.

• This session has been really useful for practice because it actually gave me the idea of what I was really going to do. I also had the chance to try different lighting effects, so that I’m more aware of the difference that the right light could make to my final shoot.

• I have some bad shoots, which I will look up to, trying not to do the same mistakes. For example, while I was taking pictures, one of the lights went off and I didn’t notice it, so when I checked the picture I realised that I had to do it all over again. I will also be more careful with the focusing of the camera, to make sure that the picture is well-focused.

• This session has also helped me gaining a little more familiarity with the task and confidence with myself, so that I know that when I’ll do the actual shoots, I’ll know what to do and I’ll do it better.

Photo Shoot Test

These are the good shots. I’ve tried shots with the lights on and with the lights off, even though I find the ones with the lights on better than the ones with lights off. I tried to catch different poses, who could be considered as a first example of what my final photo could look like. I also tried to get general, common poses, that could be usually found in a magazine. I took the pictures from different angles and positions so that I could have a variety of shoots: mid-shot (I focused more on it because it’s the most common type of shoot that appears on magazines), close-ups, long-shots, high angles and low angles.

These are the bad shots. There are some mistakes in it, regarding the lights, the shadows and the focus of the camera. For example, during the session, I was taking some pictures with the lights on, but one of the lights accidentally turned off. I didn’t realise that until I went to check the actual shots. So I had to do those bits all over again.

Also, I had to be careful with the focus of the camera and the model moving around too fast.

In some of the shots you can see the background, they’re not well-centred, or the model moved at that moment.

As these are not the actual photos that I’m going to use for the final front cover, I really needed these bad shots so that I can look at them and try to correct my mistakes.

I’ve also included behind the scene pictures, as they were they were shots done to test light and focus.
