To create my poster I first had to take the pictures. I knew that I wanted a portrait of Lydia with lots of shadows over her face to
suggest her ‘two sides’ that come from her split personality.

1. EDITING THE PICTURE
To bring down the saturation I made a copy of the layer and put a black and white filter over the image. I found this option in the
adjustments tab above the layers section.
I then made another layer to put another filter on the main image. I chose the ‘soft light’ filter as I feel it enhanced the shadows and therefore made the
picture more creepy.
To incorporate the two layers, I changed their opacities. Because I
wanted to lower the saturation but still have the enhanced shadows
achieved with the ‘soft light’ filter, I changed the opacity to 69%. I feel that this brings a good balance of
black and white to the picture, making it much colder. It also hints at the genre of the movie and that it is
quite dark.
2. CREATING THE TITLE
I created a file in InDesign and used the rectangle tool to create a black background.
I then used the text tool to type in the name of the movie. I made sure that the writing went across the whole canvas as it would make it easier later
on in the process when I have the make the picture bigger on the poster. I didn’t want to have it too small and then to have the writing be pixelated
when blown up to a bigger size.
Then I put the document in photoshop and made two versions which I then cropped to halfway. This meant
that when I put the two together I would be able to move the bottom half of the writing forward a bit.
I put the two halves of the title in a new document and then used the magic wand tool to get rid of the black
background. I then used the move tool to line up the writing and move the bottom half forward a bit to create the effect
that the writing was cut in half.
I selected all of the image and then dragged it over to my poster. I used the guide lines to make sure that it was in the
middle of the page.
3. ADDING TEXTI created new layers for the text and used the text tool to add the writing
to my poster. I chose a white font as I felt it makes the text stand out more against the dark background.
