Biography

Eric Artz, born in 1983, started to study the piano at 7 in France.

He gained entrance to the Paris Conservatoire National Superieur at the age of 14, in the classes of Nicholas Angelich and Roger Muraro afterwards. He then passed the Master’sdegree and won the First Prize awarded unanimously as well as the CNSMDP Diploma of Artist (Doctorate). He was also awarded the First Prize at the Ecole Normale Supérieure de Paris in 2012.

He is the prizewinner of 20 National and International competitions : the Geneva competition, Maria Canals (Spain), the Epinal competition (France)... He is also laureate of the Cziffra Foundation and the Natexis Banque Populaire Foundation.

He has played as a solist with orchestras since his early years, with French orchestras (Orchestre National des Pays de la Loire, Orchestre de la Garde Républicaine for Radio France) and with the Prague Chamber Orchestra.

He has performed abroad in Austria (Salzburg), Italy (Rome , Sardinia (Cagliari), and inSwitzerland, Israel ( Tel Aviv Opera house, Jerusalem, Haïfa, Beer Sheva), Germany, England (London), Ireland (Dublin) and also in Japan.

His performances in France include concerts at the Théâtre des Champs-Elysées (Paris),at the Chopin Festival in Nohant with the Quintet of the Berlin Philarmonic Orchestra, at the Chopin Festivals in Paris and Geneva, at the Festival de Radio France at Montpellier's Corum, at the Arsenal de Metz, at the Cziffra Festival, at the Jacobins Festival in Toulouse, and at the Lisztomanias in Châteauroux. He also took part in several TV programs on the French TV.

He has worked with prestigious Masters : Aldo Ciccolini, Bruno Rigutto, Brigitte Engerer and Jean Claude Pennetier. He also participated in the Master classes given by Mstislav Rostropovitch and ChristophEschenbach.

Young pianist Eric Artz took part in the series of concerts we organized for the French NotesFestival in November 2010.

Thanks to his talent and simplicity he delighted all the different types of Israeli audiences in Haifa,Beer Sheva, Tel Aviv and Jerusalem. In a Chopin repertoire to celebrate the Chopin Anniversary hedisplayed his skills and also showed an amazing mastership for his age.

The highlights of the series was undoubtedly the concert he gave at the main Opera House in TelAviv where he enthrawled an 1800 demanding crowd who gave him tremendous applause. Eric Artztotally lived up to the trust we had placed in him when we decided to invite him and he provedhimself to be the gifted representative of the new generation of French pianists.
