Spring Airlines is a budget airline with its headquarters in the Airport Area of Hongqiao Airport, Shanghai, China.While the company adopted the English name "Spring Airlines", the Chinese characters literally mean "Spring andAutumn Airlines".

The airline was given approval to be established on 26 May 2004. Its first aircraft, an Airbus A320, was delivered on12 July 2005, at Shanghai Hongqiao International Airport. Spring Airlines started operations on 18 July 2005 and thefirst flight on that day was between Shanghai and Yantai. Daily flights to Guilin were also initiated.

Presently, Spring Airlines has its base in Shanghai, and have a base in Osaka and Bangkok . There are talks to a newpossible base in Hong Kong and Thailand (Phuket) in the near future.

Spring Airlines serves destinations all around China, Cambodia, Thailand, Macao, Hong Kong and Japan and isplanning a fairly aggressive growth campaign for mid-2018 between China and South East Asia, opening newdestinations on either end, including the under-served secondary cities that have much growth to be unlocked.It is the aviation subsidiary of Shanghai Spring International Travel Service, China’s biggest travel agency. SpringAirlines has over 95% load factor, it has been profitable since it started and keeps a stable and proportional growthin business and company size.

The airline holds currently a fleet of 74 A320 aircraft, planning over 100 aircraft in service by 2018. The carrier mayneed to more than double its number of expat pilots to meet it expansion plans.
