Gorillas Gorillas live in the Tropical biome.

Gorillas don’t have to worry about predators on a regular basis. But, on occasion they have to worry about wild cats.

Most people think that Gorillas are carnivores, but that is a common myth that people assume. But, no, they are actually herbivores.

Gorillas have a certain characteristic which is, they are very similar to humans. In fact, gorillas (most monkey’s…but mostly gorillas) are built slightly like humans are.

Some people call the relationship between humans and gorillas a symbiotic relationship.

A fun fact about the gorilla is that, unlike most primates, they do not have tails!

HipposHippos live in the Savanna biome.

Hippos have basically two natural predators in the wild—crocodiles and alligators. These predators are very aggressive.

Hippos are herbivores.

A way that Hippos defend themselves is, If something comes near them that they find a threat they open there mouths exposing there big and sharp teeth as a warning. Normally, then the animal is usually scared and runs off.

A Symbiotic Relationship for a hippo is with an Oxpecker and it is a Parasitic relationship.

A fun fact about a hippo is, There are approximately 125,000 to 150,000 Hippos in the wild around Africa!

Jaguars Jaguars live in the Tropical biome.

Jaguars don’t have any predators because of how aggressive they are.

Jaguars are carnivores.

A way that Jaguars defend themselves is by the way that they, camouflage with plants and trees – its hides them from animals that are chasing them. Another way is when they flash there teeth or claws.

A jaguar does that participate in any symbiotic relationship.

A fun fact about a jaguar is, jaguars are the largest cat in the America!

KangaroosKangaroos live in the desert biome.

Kangaroos don’t have predators to worry about except for the Dingo. They often rub heads, and fight.

Kangaroos are herbivores.

A way that Kangaroos defend themselves is, they kick there enemy with there strong hind legs – one kick could kill, because of how strong the hind legs are.

Kangaroos are not in any symbiotic relationship.

A fun fact about a kangaroo is, they carry there baby in a built in pouch on there sternum.

ZebrasZebras live in the Savanna biome.

Zebras have a lot of predators to worry about, such as, lions, hyenas, hunting dogs, leopards, and cheetahs.

Zebras are herbivores.

A way that Zebras defend themselves is by, running. Zebras don’t have very many ways to defend themselves and opt to running as fast as they can.

A zebra has a mutual symbiotic relationship. The oxpecker lands on the neck and/or back of the zebras and cleans there off ticks and other parasites. The birds get an easy meal and the zebras gets a free grooming. Both animals benefit from the relationship.

A fun fact about a zebra is, in the wild, zebras live about 20-30 years; in zoos they can live up to 40 years!

TarantulaTarantulas live in the desert biome.

Tarantulas predators are humans, and the spider wasp. Tarantulas are carnivores.

A way that Tarantulas defend themselves is, they use there fangs to either scare off the animal/insect with them, or they will actually bite them.

Tarantulas do not participate in any symbiotic relationships.

A fun fact about tarantulas is, they do not create webs like other spiders do.

FalconsFalcons live in the Artic Tundra biome.

A falcons predators are, Vultures and Eagles.

Falcons are carnivores.

The way a Falcon defends itself is by swooping down, by something that is bothering it and squawks.

Falcons do not take part in any symbiotic relationships.

A fun fact about Falcons is, there average life span is up to two 17 years!

ElephantsElephants live in either the Savannas or the Temperates.

Elephants – because they are so big – do not have any predators except for human beings who often are putting them in great danger.

Elephants are herbivores.

A way that an elephants defends itself is, they use there tusks – they can grow up to six feet long – and there trunks to fight off anything that they find dangerous in any way.

Elephants do not take place in any symbiotic relationships.

A fun fact about elephants is, they do not sleep often at all because they are constantly roaming around to find food to feed there massive bodies.

Sea LionsSea Lions live in the water biome with is all over the world.

Sea Lions’ predators are, humans, sharks, and killer whales.

Sea Lions are carnivores.

A way that they defend themselves is, if there is something in the water that could hurt them – this is if land is near – they will swim ashore and stay there until it leaves. This also works vise-versa.

Sea Lions don’t take place in any symbiotic relationships.

A fun fact about sea lions is, there are seven different species of sea lions!

LionsLions live in the Savanna biome.

Lions don’t really have predators because of how aggressive they are.

Lions are carnivores.

A way that they defend themselves is, there very sharp teeth. Because of how sharp they are…they scare the thing that they find dangerous off. There roar is something that they also use to scare off people or other animals.

Lions aren’t in any symbiotic relationship.

A fun fact about lion is, they can weigh from 150 – 400 pounds!

OrangutansOrangutans live in the Tropic biome.

Its predators are tigers.

Orangutans are omnivores.

A way that they protect themselves is by climbing up the rainforest trees and hiding or swinging away to another tree. By doing this, they are off the ground and it is easier to get away quickly.

An Orangutan is not involved in any symbiotic relationships.

A fun fact about Orangutans is, they are the only known apes to come from Asia.

Their predators are, leopard seals, killer whales, and sharks.

A way that they defend themselves is, there swimming ability.

A fun fact about penguins is, they can weigh up to 88 pounds.

FrogsFrogs live in just about ANY biome other than the Tundras and Artic/Polar.

A frogs predators are, birds and fish.

Frogs are, Carnivores.

A way that frogs defend themselves is, because they can jump very high and a very long distance, to get away from there predators.

Frogs aren’t involved in any symbiotic relationships.

A fun fact about frogs is, that they can live to be up to only four-years-old!
