  • Making Proven Technology Even Better for You

At Weatherford, were not content with our past achievements. Thats why weve taken our field-proven and highly respected magnetic-flux leakage (MFL) and transverse field inspection (TFI) tools and made them even better.

These enhanced MFL and TFI in-line inspection technologies give you advanced anomaly detection, identification and characterization along with greater reliability, safety and cost efficiency than previous generation tools.

These tools are more rugged, more durable and more accurate than ever before. Weve fine-tuned magnetic assemblies and integrated ID/OD sensors in the same sensor head and deformation sensors within the same assembly to ensure better overall detection and anomaly characterization. Increased sizing capability and higher resolution further ensure high-quality, accurate data for a wide range of applications.

Our next generation of MFL and TFI tools is built on a solid foundation of technologies, proven effective by inspecting pipelines around the world for decades. These highly versatile technologies are effective in a wide range of applications including wet or dry gas, crude oil, refined products, and water, brine and condensate pipelinesonshore and offshorealone or together.

Pinpoint and identify anomalies with greater certainty

MFL technology, available in diameters ranging from 6 in. to 56 in., is ideal for simultaneous detection of multiple anomaly types and morphologies:*

General, pitting or complex corrosion Manufacturing defects Gouging Grinding Deformations with wall loss

MFL and TFI configurations give you the best of both worlds. Our MFL/TFI technologies are available as a combination, in diameters ranging from 20 in. to 56 in. They can be run in tandem to provide matched data sets for optimal accuracy and characterization of anomalies. The two-in-one configuration eliminates potential errors with cross-correlation of data from independently running different tools at different times and velocities, and possibly in differing products. Running combined tools in a single pass also reduces operational expenses.

TFI technology is available in diameters ranging from 8 in. to 56 in., features the same detection capabilities as our MFL technology and also extends detection and sizing to other pipeline anomalies:*

Long axially-oriented corrosion Notches, gouging and channeling Open-faced cracks, crack-like features and hook cracks Narrow axial-external corrosion (NAEC) Metal-loss in the long-seam weld area

  • Pipeline-Integrity Assurance You Can Trust

Full suite of enhanced MFL and TFI tools provides more accurate and reliable detection of integrity threats or anomaliesacross the board

The magnetic-flux technology behind both types of tools has been used successfully for many years in wet or dry gas, crude oil, refined production, and water, brine and condensate pipelinesboth onshore and offshore. Proven to be the most accurate in the industry, these newly engineered MFL and TFI systems have greater speed, to traverse the pipeline for specified defects, and greater precision, to identify and size multiple pipeline threats, such as dense wall loss.

New shorter tools are long on performance

Our next generation of MFL and TFI tools are shorter in length and packed with even more sensors. This means higher resolution and greater accuracy. And when you add enhanced deformation and inertial-mapping capabilities, youll subtract operating time and costs. Whats more, onboard active speed control, available in tool diameters from 28 to 56 in., enables natural gas lines to be inspected without requiring any throttling and loss of throughput.

MFL and TFI technologies are highly versatile, mainstream inspection services

Weatherford also offers ultrasonic wall-measurement and crack-detection services. The tools operate in a liquid environment and are ideal for highly problematic pipelines and conditions where the highest accuracy and resolution is needed to detect anomalies at the earliest stages of growth.

    Some of the key enhancements:

Inertial navigation system (INS) Higher density deformation (DEF) sensors

    Speed control Higher sensor density

Weatherfords magnetic inline inspection technology and services are available worldwide.
