TRANSCRIPT
Goal 1:Explore joint venture/collaborative work through one-on-ones with organizations and individuals yielding one joint project by June 2013 that expands my relationships in Southern Maryland.
Meet with new CoC Ex.Dr. to explore my facilitating a
focus group with County non-profits
Obstacleovercoming my “artist”
persona to be taken seriously as a
mentor/facilitator for business leaders and
organizations
Measure CoC convenes a focus group
of County non-profits by June 30, and hires me as
facilitator.
Identify women business owners who share or want to explore outside-the-box
approaches to business and who are interested in
collaborative work.
Obstacle Time frame requires
building on relationships that are already in place.
This may currently be too small a pool.
Measure :. Create Pinterest board for the ideal collaborator by Feb 28. One-on-ones with 5 potential candidates to build relationships and explore collaborative possibilities by June 30
Explore women’s business groups within an hour of my office. Attend 2 – 3
meetings a month, steadily, through June to get to
know the group energies.
Obstacle the tendency toward
“speed” interviewing and lack of authentic
relationship building in many of these types of
meetings
Measure:. Create a list of characteristics I want to see in the ideal group by Feb. 28
. Find one group based on the listed characteristics by June 30.
Celebration!
Me and my celebration crew here will light a candle and be joyfully grateful for the abundance of possibilities which have opened up to me by fulfilling my strategies.
Then I’ll take my husband out to dinner!

for thisObstacle:
My own resistance to repetitive detail work

and adjust as necessaryCreate a system

Celebraton! There are a lot of mini-goals here . Rather than wait for the full accomplishment of Goal #2, I will choose small lovelies - $20 to go to the thrift shop; a planned free day to do whatever I wish; coffee with a friend; a day in the garden – as a way to congratulate and encourage myself along the way.
THEN – at the full accomplishment, I hereby grant me a new outfit including shoes and a purse (preferably hand made). This is something I very very rarely grand myself, but this is a huge goal for me given my preferences.
Goal 3:Spend 2013 practicing and recording what it is like to run a business
in an intuitive, relational, non-linear, and qualitative fashion.
Continue established daily practices
. Gratitude at the beginning and end of the day
. M-F morning meeting for sharing and meditation
. At least 40 – 60 minutes of exercise, 5 days a week
Obstacles: None. These have been steady practices since last October. I consider them foundational to my life [and thus to my business since I am my business].
Measure: Do or don’t do. There is no try. Yoda
Keep a Daily Journal[Keep a separate journal for this purpose ONLY. Do not get lazy and start mixing it up with other
notes and records]
This can be an extension of the daily notes I currently take with my morning group. Use the journal to specifically note serendipitous events, books that show up, unplanned people dropping in, events and possibilities happening just because as opposed to plotting and planning, etc.
Obstacles: I get lazy and don’t keep these notes separate, making it difficult to see a pattern. I get lazy and fail to journal *every* day and miss something important in the pattern.
Measure: See Yoda.Decide if Goal 3 Negates Goals 1 and 2
Explore the questions:. Are linear and non-linear exclusive or is there a path where they can be complementary?. Is there a way to compare something that is plotted against something that just happens (other than chaos theory)?. What does a transition into intuitive, etc., look like in the world as it is – is it about imperfection in both spaces? Or is it something else that hasn’t yet been named?
Research and see if anyone else is trying this.
Obstacle: How do you not-plan a plan to measure or story the unknown, especially without any examples or an adequate language.
Measure: On December 31, 2013, I feel (subjectively, not objectively) as if I have begun to answer these questions, and I have in hand a stab at storying the process with the language I have available or have developed.
Celebration
If I make any headway at all on Goal 3, especially on deciding whether or not it negates Goals 1 and 2, it will be its own reward.
The Celebration will be moving into 2014 with wonder and resolve and gratitude.
BHAG:BigHairyAudaciousGoal
BH Move from the 20th century industrialized paradigm of business that is logical, orderly and numerical to a 21st Century business paradigm that is intuitive, based in quanta-type relationships, non-linear, and qualitative.
A Create a language for this business model that is based in story and that is accessible and foundational.
G Cause a paradigm shift that honors and accepts the practice of alternative ways of knowing and being in the business world.
Hell YES!!
