Il grosso vecchio si è fermato all’entrata del giardino pubblico. Ha tirato fuoriun fazzoletto enorme e si è asciugato il fronte. “Mi devo riposare un poco,” hamormorato. Ha guardato l'orologio. “Vediamo,” ha detto, “sono le undici emezzo. Mi restano dunque trenta minuti, e mia figlia abita molto vicino. Sì, sì,ho tempo di riposarmi un po'.”

Entrato nel giardino pubblico si è seduto pesantemente su un banco accanto aun giovanotto che stava leggendo un giornale. Dopo alcuni minuti il giovane sen’è andato, lasciando il giornale sul banco. Il vecchio si è messo a leggere, mapoichè faceva molto caldo ha cominciato ad avere molto sonno, e fra poco si èaddormentato.

Quando un orologio vicino ha suonato mezzogiorno, il vecchio si è svegliato dicolpo. “Santo cielo!” ha gridato “sono già in ritardo.” Ha corso lunga la stradaper arrivare il più presto possibile dalla figlia. Sudando e senza fiato ha bussatoalla porta dell'appartamento.

Apertagli la porta però, sua figlia gli ha detto: “Sei venuto oggi, papà? Tiaspettavo per domani.”

Sandra e Luigi: Noi sappiamo sciare bene, ma abbiamo due bambini ancorapiccoli, di sette e nove anni...Perciò vogliamo un posto possibilmente vicino a unpaese, con attrezzatura per nuotare, pattinare sul ghiaccio e giocare a tennis. Cipiacerebbe veramente una casa, una casetta, invece di un albergo. È possibile? Eci sono riduzioni per bambini?

Piera: Noi siamo tre vecchie amiche. Non siamo principianti, però non sciamo damolti anni. Vogliamo lezioni di sci, molte attività ma anche qualche lusso... comesauna o idromassaggi. Era una casa quasi signorile, circondata dal proprio giardino piccolo ma bello. Di dietro c’era unpiccolo cortile dove, d’estate si poteva mangiare all'aria aperta a lume di candela: l’unicoinconveniente di questi pranzi estivi erano le zanzare che volevano pranzare anche loro. La portadella cucina si apriva sul cortile, e dalla spaziosa e luminosa cucina un lungo corridoio, un po’ buio,portava ad un grande salotto, usato soltanto nei giorni solenni. Dall’altra parte della porta d’entrata,anche quella usata in poche occasioni, si trovava la camera matrimoniale dei miei nonni. I mieigenitori avevano un’altra camera da letto molto più piccola. Una camera piccolissima vicino allaloro era stata convertita in una camera da bagno, un lusso quasi sconosciuto in quei giorni. E noibambini? Noi sette bambini e una giovanissima zia? Noi eravamo sistemati nella mansarda.

Così era la mia casa come la ricordo. Ma adesso tutto è cambiato. Niente casa mia e caro giardino.Soltanto palazzi, parcheggi e trenta famiglie sconosciute.

Paolo: E` qui vicino. Continui per questa via, poi al semaforo giri a destra ed è arrivata.

Roberta: Ma che dici? Non sai che questa strada è senso unico?

Paolo: Oh, e` vero. Non ci avevo pensato.

Roberta: Senta signorina. Una volta arrivata al semaforo, deve continuare dritto. Al primoincrocio giri a sinistra e poi continui fino al museo.

Paolo: Sì, però deve sapere che vicino al museo è zona di sosta vietata: non puòparcheggiare là. Forse le conviene parcheggiare qui ed andare a piedi.

Signorina: È un buon suggerimento. Grazie molto.

Roberta: Non c’è di che. Arrivederci.
