RECKLESS

Page 4: Planning

I have chosen RECKLESS

I have chosen this because it defines being careless, unconcerned about the consequences. I am aiming at young people who like the genre of

rock, and I think rock very much sums this up. I also think it appeals to the rebellious side which the reader may have. The target audience I am

aiming at are very much into having fun, going to festivals (getting drunk) which is quite reckless. I also think the name is memorable and stands out.

Page 5: Planning

I will be using dafont.com to find suitable text. I am looking to find something that really stands out and has a ‘rock n roll’ side to it. I want it to look quite crazy and almost as if its been aged/scratched (as the Kerrang covers I have researched into look).

Mode of address

For the mode of address I am going to use lots of buzz words used to draw the reader in such as ‘WORLD EXCLUSIVE’ which makes it sound even better than just ‘EXCLUSIVE’ as they are the first magazine in the world to get this information. Also I’m going to use call outs that are really intriguing that draw the readers in and make them want to know what the celebrity is talking about. I also am going to use some taboo slang as this makes it a lot more informal and is something the teenage age group relates too/understands and uses themselves. This also connotates the rebellious rock side to my magazine. I am also going to use some rhetorical questions to directly address and involve the reader- I want to create a relationship between the magazine and reader.

ACTIVITY IS THE LOCATION SUITABLE FOR PRODUCTION?

ADDITIONAL COMMENTS

Look around the location. Yes Photography studioTalk to people there, organise filming permissions. I have permission from the

photography teachers and have booked the studio for the time I need

Identify the equipment you need to use. Camera, lights Examine and identify any potential health and safety issues(Both people and equipment related issues e.g. crowd numbers being controlled; using safe cabling practices and video equipment being set up in a sensible location that does not block access points or that damages the environment or frightens livestock)

There are a lot of wires, need to make sure they are out of the way. Also making sure the light fittings are screwed on safely and turned off when fitting otherwise could be burnt.

Check the position of the sun and lighting conditions. There will be different types of studio lights

Look for interesting shots and camera angles. Plain white backdrop, concentrate on model, will be doing intense close ups

Check the electricity supply. (For the majority of exterior locations you will be using battery power)

There is a few plug sockets However camera will be full of charge as they belong to college which always keep them charged.

Do a test sound/video recording and check for potential noise problems (traffic noise may be a problem; is a location on a main flight path to an airport?)

No, noise as I will be in a studio at the end of an empty corridor

Confirm times and dates with technical crew/actors or anybody you are interviewing, etc.

Confirmed date of 2:30, 23RD Feb meeting at Rotherfield Canteen

Arrange car parking, access, loading, security, where possible. Will be securely locked inside the studio

Make sure everybody concerned with your video production knows what is happening and what is expected of them when on location.

Have already been briefed of shots needed/style I want to portrayed

Organisation of props/costumes

Page 15: Planning

I am dressing my model in a

red checked shirt. The red has

connotations of confidence

and rebellion. I also think it will

add to the ‘rock’ look and will

appeal to young readers.

I am also dressing my model in tight black skinny jeans. This is a young look and I have noticed black skinny jeans are frequently worn by members of rock bands. I think this will also help add to the appeal for teenage boys I am trying to target, as the model will be wearing very figure hugging tight jeans = attractive.

Page 16: Planning

Converses are also a very well known

‘rock’ look and lots of young people

have these. I think they will help add to

the fashion appeal of the outfit and

they connotate- young, sporty, rock,

individuality, alternative.

I will also being using bangles

and bracelets to give the extra

detail and add an edge to the

outfit.

Page 17: Planning

The outfit I have created has a somewhat emo/scene look to it aswell, which means it will appeal to a wider range of readers. I will be providing the clothes myself and have checked the model is the same sizes as me.

Page 18: Planning

Dark black eye makeup- The model I am using will be wearing black eye shadow and eyeliner which I will be providing. I think this gives a really quite drastic/scary look, which is what I am aiming for. This look will entice the reader and will link in perfectly with my story I am planning to write for my DPS. Black eye make up is also quite gothic and dark, which again appeals to a wider audience. It also helps to make the eyes stand out, which will be useful in my photos.
