Approach to the 2010 Planning Session

1. What are the words of encouragement from the Lord for us this 2010?

What are the verses that God has quickened to you for 2010.

Page 3: Planning & Workshop Session for CY2010

Page 4: Planning & Workshop Session for CY2010

"O sinong hari na makikipagdigma sa kapwa hari ang hindi mauupo upang pag-aralang mabuti kung ang sampung libong kawal niya ay maisasagupa sa kalaban na may dalawampung libong kawal? At kung hindi niya kaya, malayo pa ang kalaban ay magsusugo na siya ng kinatawan upang makipagkasundo..." (Lukas 14:31-32 MBB).

"In his heart a man plans his course, but the LORD determines his steps" (Prov. 16:9 NIV). "Ang tao ang nagbabalak, ngunit si Yahweh ang nagpapatupad" (Kawikaan 16:9 MBB).

"Ang mabuitng pagbabalak ay pinapakinabangan, ngunit ang dalus-dalos na paggawa'y walang kahihinatnan" (Kawaikaan 21:5). "The plans of the diligent lead to profit as surely as haste leads to poverty" (Prov. 21:5 NIV).

Page 6: Planning & Workshop Session for CY2010

"Many are the plans in a man's heart, but it is the LORD's purpose that prevails" (Prov. 19:21 NIV).

"Ang isang tao'y maraming iniisip, maraming binabalak, ngunit ang kalooban din ni Yahweh ang siyang mananaig" (Kawikaan 19:21 MBB).

"Come now, you who say, 'Today or tomorrow, we shall go to such and such a city, and spend a year there and engage in business and make a profit.' Yet you do not know what your life will be like tomorrow. You are just a vapor that appears for a little while and then vanishes away. Instead, you ought to say, 'If the Lord wills, we shall live and also do this or that'" (James 4:13-16 NASB).

2. Identifying the Strengths

Identify what the strengths of the cell are.What is its niche? What is our contribution to the larger

church (our mother unit - FFJ and BOL)? How can we do it?

What are our present outreaches and opportunities.

Reminders Re: SMART Goals

SMART GOALS (Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Realistic, Time-Bounded)

Determine what are the NEEDS OFTHE CELL. Then PRIORITIZE THEM ACCORDING TO IMPORTANCE. Here, we will know our values.

Then set goals according to your priorities.

Are there topics that you want to be emphasized because of the need of the group?

Page 10: Planning & Workshop Session for CY2010

Specific

What do you want to happen? What do you want to achieve or accomplish?

It answers the WHAT question. Consider this: How serious are we in

wanting this to happen? Ex. GOD WILLING: we will have an

additional new active members; lose 10 pounds; arrive on time or 15 minutes before the cell begins;

Page 11: Planning & Workshop Session for CY2010

start the cell meeting on time whether few or many are present but be flexible on the activities [start on asking people to meditate on certain Scriptures while waiting for others to arrive; sharing of prayer requests];

end the cell meeting on time; reach out to the missing cell members;

conduct a leadership training; visit the TGPM; to be faithful in giving tithes

and offerings; schedule a family altar once a week; have more interaction in the cell; etc.

Page 12: Planning & Workshop Session for CY2010

MeasurableIn terms of number or quantity. It answers the question HOW MUCH or HOW

MANY? How often or the frequency of times. This could be in terms of the number of

times a year/month/week; weight loss or weight gain in kilos or pounds.

Ex: Visit the gym twice a week to exercise for one hour per visit; Have an additional 50 new active members…;

Page 13: Planning & Workshop Session for CY2010

Other examples: Start the cell meeting on time at 7:15 pm whether few or many present; end the cell meeting between 9:45 to 10 pm;

visit TGPM twice this year (February and June); to be faithful in giving tithes and offerings by setting aside 11% of my income every 15th and 30th of the month;

schedule a family altar once a week, every Sun night, after dinner; etc

Page 14: Planning & Workshop Session for CY2010

AchievableIt answers the question: CAN IT BE DONE? IS IT POSSIBLE? Do we have the funds? This is sort of first stage of evaluation.

Page 15: Planning & Workshop Session for CY2010

RealisticIt answers the question: CAN IT BE ACHIEVED

GIVEN THE PRESENT SITUATION? GIVEN OUR KIND OF ENVIRONMENT? (the available funding & funding requirements, our manpower, the kind of attitude and commitment our people have, the situation of the people, etc.

Can we maintain it? "Hindi ba ito suntok sa buwan?“ Are we not just being too idealistic?

Can the people commit to that goal? This is the 2nd stage of evaluation.

Page 16: Planning & Workshop Session for CY2010

Time-Bounded

Is it trackable within the year, like every quarter?

It answers the question: WHEN WILL IT HAPPEN?

NB: Don't forget to set a time for review and evaluation on a monthly and quarterly basis to keep track of where you are compared to or in terms of your goals.

Remember the acronym: PIE (Plan, Implement, Evaluate).

Page 17: Planning & Workshop Session for CY2010

4. Writing down your STRATEGIES

Write down your STRATEGIES how you may achieve your goals.

It could be a series of activities which will help you reach your goal.

Our tendency is this: We identify the main events that we want to do this year based on the season of the year? We must base our activities on our goals.

Page 18: Planning & Workshop Session for CY2010

StrategiesWe must base our strategies and

activities on our goals. Ask why you want it done? What are your

objectives for these goals?Take advantage of the many long week-

ends this year.

Page 19: Planning & Workshop Session for CY2010

Ex. Goal: Have an additional 50 new active members.

STRATEGIES: Every member in the cell to invite at least 5 non-cell members every Sunday using a Cell Information Sheet (about the Martes Cell). Cell members to invite their marketplace contacts i.e., friends, gym-mates, office mates, etc. to the cell meeting. Schedule a special cell meeting for the unchurch with a cell-friendly activities like videoke, games, sports, etc.

Page 20: Planning & Workshop Session for CY2010

Set an evangelistic night for the cell. Assign a group that will orient new people about the purpose and importance of the cell. Activate the Cell-Membership Committee and the Follow-Up Committee by assigning leaders. Form a sub-cell that will handle all the coming new members. Schedule a water baptism date. Break bigger sub-cells into 2.

Page 21: Planning & Workshop Session for CY2010

Again, at the end of every strategy, ask the question: IS IT GOING TO MEET OUR GOAL?

If so, ask the other question: HOW OFTEN ARE WE GOING TO DO THIS STRATEGY?

Page 22: Planning & Workshop Session for CY2010

5. Write your objectives for every goal

Write your aims and objectives for every goal.

Examples: to increase our membership (Evangelistic purposes); for personal discipline (Discipline purposes); for training and equipping (Equipping purposes); for discipleship or deepening on the foundational teachings of the Basic Truths (Discipleship purposes);

Page 23: Planning & Workshop Session for CY2010

for fellowship (Fellowshipping purposes); for spiritual revival and enhancing prayer life (Spiritual Discipline purpose); for "AngLahi“ (Brown Raise purpose); to minister practically to those within and outside of the cell group (Outreach purposes); etc.

Note: Try to have a balance of the above purposes. It is always good to achieve balance in life.

Note: Assign Accountable People per Goal and per activity.

Every goal and activity should have people who will serve as overall responsible (overseer).

Don't leave anything open-ended.

Page 26: Planning & Workshop Session for CY2010

Also assign somebody who will administratively remind the leaders of the future plans and activities ahead of the target month.

In this way, the plans will have a chance of success and will prosper. He will consider the needed preparations for the plans that requires more time and effort. He will also monitor if the plan was fully implemented.
