    Need of PDP

Due to replacing CRT (cathode ray

    tube).

    Due to replacing LCD(liquid crystal

    display).

    Due to development in electronicdisplay.

    Construction

Plasma screen is made up of two sheets ofglass.

To make plasma ,xenon and neon gas atoms.

It contains thousands of tiny cells.

these cells are positioned between two glass

    plats.

    1. Front glass plate

    2. Rear glass plate

    Construction

    This setup consist of electrodes.

    1. Long electrode

    2. Address electrode

    3. Transparent display electrode

Behind front glass plate red phosphors, green phosphors and blue phosphors

    are placed.

Working principle Xenon and neon gases atoms having equally

protons & electrons. Appling voltage across it . Due to this positive

charged ions generates in the process of

collision. This releases ultraviolet light , invisible to

    human eye.

UV light interact phosphor material and givesvisible light.

Through the pixel colors created on

    screen.

    Colored display(PDP)

Colored images on plasma screen canbe obtained by pixel.

Each pixel is made up of three sub

    pixel.

These are red, green and blue phosphor.

These pixels blend together to produce16 millions of different colors.

    Advantage

Wide screen using extremely thin material.

    Display of bright images.

    No specific viewing angle .

    Batter picture quality.

Clearly display of fast moving images.

    Having more pixel than CRT.

    Space saving

    Disadvantage

    More power consuming than LCD.

    Greater cost.

    Burn-in effect.

Not good to display AM radio signals.

Affected by air pressure and altitude. Shorter life span(20,000-30,000 hours).

    Closing thought

How long they last??? As technology has been made better, Plasma screens have a much

longer life and you should expect 30,000 hours of use. In other words

your television would need to be on for 16 hours a day, every day for

the next 5 years. By the time your TV needs replacing higher

definition models will have become available. Most of us should notbe worried as it will give years of enjoyment

Is it Worth Spending Money On?

When the first Plasma televisions were designed for home use you

didn't get much change from $5000 dollars for a basic small model. Asthe technology has improved and production has increased, prices have

been smaller. You can now get a 37 inch model for as little as $1000 or

even less so they are great value. Soon buying a CRT television will be

a thing of the past as the new digital age is upon us.
