    It is not too late for students to apply to study abroad for this summer or    Maymester. This is the last big push since we s ll have spots available.  

    Please encourage your students to study abroad.

    Spring Career Fairs The College of Agriculture and the Department of Forestry and Natural     

    Resources will each be hos ng a career fair on February 20th from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. The College of   Agriculture Career Fair will be held in the South     

    Ballroom of the Union while the Forestry and Natural Resources Career Fair will be held in Pfendler Hall. For more informa on about the COA Career Fair visit Career Services Page here . For more informa on about the FNR

    Ag Research Fund Scholarship 

    Do you know students who are interested in undergraduate         research? If so, there are great opportuni es for them to earn 

    money while expanding their horizons and building their  resume with the Agriculture Research Fund Scholarship. Applica ons are due by March 29, 2013. More informa on can be found here. For addi onal  informa on contact Carol Brock at [email protected] 

    Class of 1937 Scholarship 

    Applica ons are now available to students for the Class of 1937             Scholarship. Each year 15‐20 scholarships are given to students from funds from the Class of 1937, ranging from $500‐$4,000. Selec on is made on the basis of leadership ac vi es while at Purdue.  Applica ons are available at the Office of the dean of Students in Schleman Hall Room 207, the Purdue Student Government Office in the Union, at the Black Cultural Center and here. The deadline for    applica ons to be returned to the Office of the Dean of Students is February 28th at 5 p.m. For more informa on please contact Lou Ann Hamilton at [email protected] or 765‐494‐1252

    Higher Educa on Challenge Grant Program 

    Deadline February 8, 2013 

    The Higher Educa on Challenge (HEC) Grants Program is a program      focused on improving formal, postsecondary‐level agriculture sciences educa on. Guided by cri cal societal issues laid out in the “New Biology for the 21st Century” report, as well as the five compelling NIFA Priority Areas, HEC‐funded projects provide funding to eligible applicants to help ensure a competent, qualified and diverse workforce to serve the food and agricultural sciences system. At the same  me, HEC‐funded projects improve the economic health and viability of rural communi es through the development of degree programs emphasizing new and emerging employment opportuni es. Finally, HEC projects focus on the na onal challenge to increase the number and diversity (i.e., having an               agricultural sciences workforce representa ve of the na on’s              popula on) of students entering other food and agriculture‐related      science, technology, engineering, and mathema cs (STEM) disciplines.  

    USDA‐NIFA has refocused its mission to direct agricultural sciences       research, educa on, and extension programs on addressing the following five Priority Areas: Food Security and Hunger, Climate Change,              Sustainable Energy, Childhood Obesity and Food Safety.
