“Springtacular Family Night” Tuesday, March 13! Our next Family Night is scheduled for this Tuesday, March 13 at 6:15 p.m. and will be hosted by the children’s teachers!

At the family meetings, which are held every month, parents are given important class information, updates and families participate in delightful literacy activities. Please join us for our meeting, “Springtacular” for a fun filled night as we prepare for spring and, if the mood strikes you, join your teachers and come dressed wearing your favorite spring colors!

Notes to Parents The annual PUENTE/Hollenbeck Palms Easter Egg Hunt will take place on Thursday,

March 22. After the children visit the senior residents at Hollenbeck Palms, they will have their egg hunt in their beautiful garden. Children will eat their lunch at the Hollenbeck Palms and go for a Nature Walk on the garden grounds. Kids will return to class and continue with their regular schedule after the spring event. Hollenbeck Palms is located next door to PUENTE’s school campus. Families, we will need two dozen plastic Easter

eggs for the egg hunt activity!The plastic eggs may be filled with sealed candy, stickers, or erasers. Please secure with scotch tape around the diameter of the plastic egg. The Hollenbeck Palms will provide a treat for the children. You may send your child with a tote bag (they work better than a basket!) to carry their eggs. Please write your child’s name on his or her belongings. Thank you!

Los niños tendrán su almuerzo al lado y luego visitarán el hermoso jardín después de la busqueda de huevos. Hollenbeck Palms les ofrecerá refrescos y galletas a los niños. Los niños regresarán a sus clases a continuar con sus estudios después de la visita. Homework Journal

Children who are involved in regular routines at home tend to do better in school. Parents can help children develop a daily routine while helping to reinforce their academic skills and teaching children to manage their time. Beginning this week, children will start their weekly “Homework Journal.” These assignments will always be found at the end of the weekly Family Newsletter. Please help your child complete his/her daily assignments beginning this week. Homework is due on Friday. Please purchase a guided line manuscript notebook paper where your child can keep his or her daily writing assignments in order. Please date and sign each assignment. This week, we would like you to orally review the ABC’s with your child and help him/her write the ABC’s at least once in the journal and help practice writing his/her first and last name at least five times each day. We recommend that you spend a minimum of twenty minutes a day with your child on these activities. Please sign your name on your child’s journal and turn it in this Friday. Niños que usan rutinas regulares trabajan mejor en escuela. Los padres pueden usar rutinas en casa diaria para ayuda a reforzar las habilidades académicas de los niños para manejar su tiempo. Help your child learn to read! The most commonly used words in English follow few spelling or pronunciation rules and cause children great difficulty when they are beginning to read. If you help your child master these words and know them "by sight”, then s/he will be able to focus on the more important content words. Reading will be more interesting and more enjoyable as a result! Please help your child practice his/her sight word list on a daily basis. It will make a dramatic difference as s/he begins to read.

In recognition of your child’s accomplishments, we would like to extend an invitation for your child to join our summer school program to further extend their progress.

The program is designed to further accelerate student’s academic skills as well as help maintain a school routine during the summer, making the transition to kindergarten and 1st grade easier. Thank you for being active members of the PUENTE community! A $100.00 materials fee due at the time of registration.
