We are going to do a Peer Review of this answer. Peer Reviews are helpful when you are learning how to express critical thinking because they make your brain look at the language and the reasoning in a new way.

You will need a pen or pencil of a different color than the one the paper in front of you is written in.

Please write your name at the bottom of the page after Peer Reviewer:

Please do the following:• Locate the Thesis statement in the student’s

answer. It should be one sentence that answers the question, Why does Japan decide to build an empire in Asia?

• Underline the Thesis. If there is no Thesis, write Thesis? In the margin.

• It should contain the word “because”. Circle the word because. If there is no because write Why next to the sentence.

• If you can’t find the explanation, write How is this a cause of Japanese empire building? At the end of the answer.
