Help us buy sheep for a family in Ecuador! Our KidMin Advent service project is raising money to buy a sheep (or sheep) for an impoverished family in Ecuador through Heifer International. Children are collecting coins at home each week and would love to help collect your loose change too. Sheep provide an impoverished family with wool to make clothes for their own family with enough leftover to sell to others and provide additional income. Heifer International encourages recipient families to pay it forward by giving any offspring to others in need. Since sheep often have twins or triplets, our gift will help multiple families! On December 17 we will have our Youth Christmas Party from 3:00-7:00 PM at the church. The festivities will include our Annual Ugly Christmas Outfit/ Sweater Contest, The Christmas Goose Chase, Jamey's Stupid Game (Christmas Edition), Christmas movie, great food and more. This is a great opportunity to invite those folks that are in grades 6-12 to be a part of something special. United Methodist Student Day is today and is one of six church-wide Special Sundays with offerings of The United Methodist Church. International: Global Migration Sunday. . . Today, more than 65 million people worldwide have been forcibly displaced from their homes due to conflict, persecution, or natural disasters. Over 21 million of those are refugees, more than half of whom are under the age of 18. In response, The United Methodist Church has planned a day of prayer to raise awareness and funds to aid migrants and refugees. That includes support of the refugee resettlement work of partner organization, Church World Service, and advocacy, as well as provision of education materials and grants to help conferences and congregations become better equipped to minister to migrants locally and globally. For more information and/or to give, go to umcmigration.org. Domestic: Rust College, Augusta, Georgia. . . Rust College is a historically Black, coeducational, senior liberal arts college founded in 1866 by the Freedman's Aid Society of the Methodist Episcopal Church. The College is related to the United Methodist Church, and dedicated to serving students with a variety of academic preparations, through instruction in the humanities, social behavior sciences, natural science, business, technology and education. Pawnee School: Kindergarten Teacher: Wendy Trueblood and Clerical Aide: Jan Kahlfeldt Local Church Ministry: Staff Sock Christmas Tree. The staff have a sock Christmas tree in the office this year.
