THIS NEW CATHOLIC STRONG CAMPAIGN NEEDS YOUR TALENTS AND GIFTS! We will need a Leadership Team to help with this Campaign. The Team will consist of the following: (see chart ) If you are able to give 3 to 4 hours per week to this campaign and have these Leadership qualities to make this campaign a success, please call the parish office at 927-1154 and give your name and phone number so we can invite you to our next meeting.

ONE HOUR WITH JESUS Perpetual Adoration

This Wednesday we celebrate Independence Day. We are blessed to live in this great nation with its many freedoms. As we pray today in our church before our Eucharistic Jesus. Let us be grateful that we are able to do this. Let us not take this freedom for granted. There are those who would gladly take this freedom away from us. Pray for our Nation this day and for all who make its laws and for all who make decisions that affect our lives and destinies. Pray for all nations the world over for true peace and freedoms.

ADORERS, OFFER ONE HOUR THIS WEEK FOR OUR PRESIDENT, LAWMAKERS AND

THOSE WHO GOVERN. PRAY FOR ALL NATIONS THAT WE MAY HAVE TRUE PEACE.

Adorers and substitute Adorers are always needed.

If you are able to spare one hour for Jesus, Adorers are needed for the following times:

Thursday 4:00 a.m. - 5:00 a.m. Friday 9:00 a.m. - 10:00 a.m. Saturday 4:00a.m. - 5:00 a.m.

Please call Melanie at: (609) 390-2348 (h) or (609) 665-9161 (cell)

OUR PRAYER FOR THIS UPCOMING CAMPAIGN Father, We are grateful for the gift of our church and the blessings of its parishes, schools and ministries. Please watch over us as we embark on this campaign, CATHOLIC STRONG, which will fortify these gifts for the benefit of the entire community of South Jersey. Let this be an opportunity to celebrate our tradition of church teaching by going outward, strengthening our future and becoming Missionary Disciples of your Son, Jesus Christ, to the people of Atlantic, Camden, Cape May, Cumberland, Gloucester and Salem Counties. We pray that you watch over us and guide us as we invigorate our parishes and leadership, raise our public image, embrace our diversity, and continue to serve Your mission on Earth. Father, bless our campaign and send forth your Holy Spirit so that we will be for years to come CATHOLIC STRONG .

For the first time in nearly 30 years, the Catholic Community of South Jersey will hold a diocesan-wide campaign to raise needed funds for all parishes and the select ministries of the Diocese of Camden. The diocesan component, which will receive 30% of the funding, will focus on the following: Strong Schools - $8 Million Faculty & Staff development in the area of catechesis, curriculum expansion and innovation, capital improvements for elementary schools and more substantial methods for engaging youth and young adults. Strong Service - $4 Million Providing care to individuals and families in need across Six counties through Catholic Charities, VITAlity Catholic Healthcare Services and the Camden Center for Law and Social Justice. Strong Faith - $3 Million Promoting the public image of the Catholic Church through traditional and newer media to highlight the vitality of our parishes and ministries. Increase educational opportunities for the parish ministers and staff to help our parishes embrace the varied expressions of the Catholic faith in language, culture, and practice, as well as their own professional and faith formation. Of the funds raised, 70% will remain at the parish. Each parish has been asked to identify our unique needs and the way we will put their dollars to use. These needs could include updates to physical plant, new or expanded youth and pastoral ministries, and the hiring of staff to expand the effectiveness of parishes.

“...as a matter of equality your abundance at the present time should supply their want, so that their abundance may supply your want, that there may be equality.” (2 Corinthians 8:14) Good Stewards are responsible not only for our own lives, but for the lives of those around us. It is important that we not only grow, nurture and share our gifts; but that we also teach our children and encourage others to do the same. This is the communal aspect of our Catholic faith. We are the “Body of Christ.” We are called to be dependent on each other and not live in isolation.

OUR LADY OF SORROWS YOUNG ADULTS

SUMMER ENCYCLICAL STUDY GROUP “Man’s intellect is made for Truth, and God alone is essential Truth.” St. Thomas Aquinas

Fides et Ratio Encyclical letters express the mind of the Holy See on matters of great importance. Pope St. John Paul engages the modern crisis of reason in this letter which is a deliberate sequel to Veritatis Splendor. John Paul seeks especially to concentrate on the theme of truth itself and on its foundation in relation to faith. This year marks the 20th anniversary of Fides et Ratio.

DIOCESAN MARIAN PILGRIMAGE Every other year, Catholics throughout the Diocese of Camden journey to the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception in Washington, D.C.

All are welcome to join Bishop Dennis Sullivan for this Pilgrimage on Saturday, October 13, 2018

This year, pilgrims will be able to view the magnificent Trinity Dome Mosaic which was only recently completed and blessed. Pilgrims will enjoy a Concert of Sacred Music, have the opportunity to go to Confession, and attend Mass celebrated by Bishop Sullivan in the Great Upper Church of the Basilica.

Catholics from throughout the Diocese will participate in the Procession of Parishes, and join together in praying the Holy Rosary, as we honor the Blessed Virgin Mary and entrust our Special Intentions to her. Contact our Parish Office for information on Bus Transportation.

Is your marriage going down the right road . . . or is it a little off track? Life can be difficult, and so can the challenges you face in marriage. Does the distance between you seem wide? Are you already separated? Looking for a better way? Retrouvaille (retro-VIE) can help and offers hope for a better relationship. Retrouvaille is a peer ministry of volunteer couples that can help you learn the tools of healthy communication, build intimacy and heal, just as they have done in their own marriages. Retrouvaille is Christian-based and Catholic in origin, but welcomes couples of all faiths as well as non-religious couples. Retrouvaille can help get your relationship back on track. Our next program is coming up at the Family Life Center in Malvern, PA. on August 17-19. For more information, or to register for one of our weekends, visit our web site at: www.HelpOurMarriage.org or call 1-800-470-2230. All inquiries are kept strictly confidential.
