Troubleshooting In the event that “My uDownloader” failed to install please follow the identified step below.
1. Ensure that you have dotNet 4.0 installed.
http://www.microsoft.com/en-
us/download/details.aspx?id=17851
In the event that compass 2.0 does not let me enter in the MAC address of my device for a
customer, please follow the step below.
1. If the box to enter in the MAC address of your device is missing, then your panel
revision does not support Upload/Download through AlarmNet and will not work with
uDownloader.
In the event that everything was installed correctly and my uDownloader is ‘Enabled’ for
Compass but I am still unable to connect, please follow the identified steps below.
1. Navigate to your host file most commonly found at:
1a.- C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc\hosts
It can be opened with the Windows Program: Notepad. You should have the
following entry entered in: 127.0.0.1 controlserver.alarmnet.com
If you do not see the above entry, try disabling any virus protection software and re-
installing uDownloader.
2. If you can verify the above entry in your hosts file, open a windows command prompt by selecting the “START” to start and search for ‘cmd’. Type in the following:
2a.- ping controlserver.alarmnet.com 2b.- After you ping the above address you should be getting responses back from
‘127.0.0.1’. If not, make sure that your ipDatatel uDownloader Service is running by: 2c. - Go to Start search for “Services”:

clicking on the ‘Name’ column). Scroll down till you find the ‘i’ section of services
and look for “ipDatatel uDownloader Service”.
The ipDatatel uDownloader Service needs to be running. Try clicking ‘Start’ or
