Fellow Probians and Partners The September outing to Floriade in Canberra was well patronised, and the participants were treated to a well organised and enjoyable tour of the National Capital’s major attractions. We stayed in a hotel in Tuggeranong, a novel experience for us all, but it proved eminently suitable and very comfortable. As usual Ross arranged perfect weather, and timed the trip so that we visited Parliament House just before the upgraded security measures were implemented. Although we had all been to Canberra before, none of us had been on the Lake Cruise – very worthwhile. Increased security has, however, upset our plans for the alternate October outing as Garden Island is now off limits, and a visit to Government House has been substituted. Details elsewhere in the Newsletter. Your Committee continues to view the management and financial performance of Probus South Pacific with some concern, and we intend to communicate these concerns to them in the near future. We will keep you informed of future developments. The Education Department no longer requires the Oriental Room at Norths for HSC exams, so we do not need to move for our October or November Meetings.
