RoadPort Stephens has a highly developed
network o highways and arterial roads, and is
conveniently located only 20 minutes rom the
F3 Freeway.
The Pacic Highway runs rom Sydney to
Brisbane along the NSW coast, passing by
Tomago, Heatherbrae and Raymond Terrace
commercial areas. These towns also sit just
minutes north o the New England Highway
which provides easy access to Singleton, the
Upper Hunter and the Golden Highway.
AirNewcastle Airport is located at Williamtown,only a 25 minute drive rom Raymond Terrace.
Six airlines operate rom the terminal including
Virgin Blue, QantasLink, Jetstar, Brindabella,
Aeropelican, and Newcastle Helicopters.
Daily services operate to Sydney, Melbourne,
Brisbane, and the Gold Coast. Frequent services
run throughout the week to Canberra.
Commuter ServicesCityRail operates a regular daily scheduled
electric passenger rail service between
Newcastle and Sydney with a travel time o 2.5
hours.
State Transit operates bus services throughout
the Hunter region.
Bus services also link to the passenger train
system at bus/rail interchanges at Newcastle,
Fassiern, Charlestown and Broadmeadow.
Shipping PortThe Port o Newcastle is the largest export port
in Australia and is one o the worlds largest coal
tonnage ports (shipping more than 80 million

Water Corporation manages the sewage
treatment or the area, while remaining mindul
o protecting our natural waterways and
beaches.
Water restrictions do not apply in Port Stephens
at this time, and do not come into place until
water storage levels reach 60%.

Dolphin WatchingPort Stephens is home to more than 165
bottlenose dolphins and is known as the
dolphin capital o Australia. Thousands o
visitors come each year to catch a glimpse othem in their natural habitat. Ten cruise vessels
oer up to 3 cruises a day rom dAlbora Marina
in Nelson Bay, with cruise duration anywhere
rom one and a hal to our hours, ensuring
there are plenty o choices to suit everyones
timetable and budget.
Whale WatchingOver 6,000 Humpback whales pass through
Port Stephens each year on their annual
migration North rom Antarctica to the tropics
to mate and breed. A small feet o whale
watching vessels run twice a day rom dAlbora
Marina in Nelson Bay through the winter and
spring. The whales are also celebrated with a
two week Festival o the Whales which is held
during the school holidays in late September
and early October.
Sand DunesThe amous Worimi Conservation Lands (also
known as Stockton Bight Sand Dunes) are only
a 10 minute drive rom Nelson Bay and are the
largest in the Southern Hemisphere.
A large number o tour operators provide a
wide range o activities such as sand boarding,
4WD beach and dune driving, horse and camelriding, and quad biking. You can even explore
the wreck o the Sygna and abandoned World
War II lines o deence.
FishingPort Stephens is internationally renowned as a
marlin shing hot spot with many world record
catches o marlin and shark made here. It is
the location each year or the biggest game
shing competition in the southern hemisphere
- the Annual Interclub Competition held in late
February. For the amateur sherman, there are
many rees located oshore and there is great
shing inside the Port, rom piers, a dinghy or
the beach.
AccommodationPort Stephens oers an endless and diverse
choice o riendly, relaxed and aordable
accommodation. Many o the holiday parks,
hotels and resorts are located close to
shops, caes and waterronts. Other popular

Situated on the Karuah River at the western end

park, walk on the whar, swim in the tidal pool,

Raymd Terrace
Situated on the banks o the Hunter and

with many buildings that date back almost
to the earliest days o colonial Australia. Visit
the Sketchley Pioneer Cottage Museum and

wildfower and native vegetation at the Hunter

Tilligerry Peisla
Located on the south-western shores o Port
Stephens, the peninsula is a beautiul, tranquil,
untouched place surrounded by water. The
Tilligerry Festival takes place in November each
