Peter Goers and Taylor Pfeiffer at

Salt of the Earth

Dinner diners at Salt of the Earth Cafe were entertained by the wonderfully talented banjo playing, yodelling Taylor Pfeiffer and hilarious comedy entertainment of Peter Goers on Sat. 15th Oct. Taylor, 17 years old, played the 5 string banjo in an extraordinarily creative way and performed country and bluegrass songs which included versions of yodelling, which she taught herself at the age of ten. In his usual form, Peter entertained with his yarns about his own years in theatre and trip down memory lane and amused the audience with his dry sense of humour and witty comedy.

Who Did This?

Inappropriate Rubbish

Dumping!

Tyres, household garbage etc and barbed wire were dumped in a public bin at the boat ramp area. This type of rubbish adds extra cost to our Council’s dumping fees at a cost to everyone in the district. Please have consideration for others who may wish to dispose of genuine rubbish.

Birds of the Port Wakefield Area

from a book of the same name by Paul Taylor and Wikipedia White-Browed Babbler Pomatostomus superciliosus

Flocks of these comical birds are fairly common in mallee areas, including the Hummocks. In larger scrubs more than one family group can occur. Babbles are inquisitive and noisy. Ranging from 17 cm to 21 cm in length the white-browed babbler is the smallest of the Australian babblers. It is a medium-sized terrestrial bird with a long and decurved bill.

There are many variations to colour, however the adult babbler generally varies from a dark grey-brown to solid dark brown with distinguished white supercilium and dark brown eye stripe. The underside is usually lighter in colour, varying from light grey or white to light brown, sometimes lighter for females, but generally sexes are similar. Juvenile individuals often have more pronounced dark plumage with a chestnut or cinnamon motif, especially on the underside. Breeding adult males may sometimes have a more pronounced brown ‘cap’ compared to females or juvenile individuals. Insects, spiders, amphibians, crustaceans, reptiles, fruit, seeds and nuts have been found to be part of their diet.

Dear Lord, So far today, am I doing all right. I have not gossiped, lost my temper, been greedy, grumpy, nasty, selfish or self-indulgent. I have not whined, complained, cursed or eaten any chocolate. I have charged nothing on my credit card. But I will be getting out of bed in a minute, and I think that I will really need your help then.

Paraprosdokians:

We never really grow up…..we only learn how to act in public. War does not determine who is right, only who is left. Knowledge is knowing a tomato is a fruit. Wisdom is not putting it in a fruit bowl. To steal ideas from one person is plagiarism. To steal from many is research.
