6Mucha MuseumThis museum houses the work of Alphonse Mucha in two galleries, one for his skectches, posters, furniture, and smaller paintings, andone for his slav epic paintings, which measure20 high by 20 wide for the largest paintings. The roof provides shading for the third oor gallery, however, its main purpose is a visual connection between the dock, river, and both museum buildings, connectiong the city of Prague to themuseum. This is also expressed through the thirdoor balcony that displays the city of Prague, which is adjacent to the Mucha general gallery. Putting Prague on display exhibits the pride of Czech Republic and Slavic people that Mucha presented in his Slav Epic paintings.

Health Community & ClinicThis health promoting community and clinic is a groupproject designed for a site in Austin, TX. The project is anadaptive reuse of an existing hospital. Our concept forthe community was on complete health for the future through preventative measures, treatment, wellness, research and technology. This community also focuses oncomplete health by becoming a monumental and iconiclocation that meets the needs of all ages, family sizes andactivity levels of Austin. Our idea of wellness was to givepeople a means to improve their well being through accessto healthy foods and to emphasize pedestrian activity by providing biking and walking along paths and bridges. Bike and bus routes provide access to the site, particularyacross Interstate 35, which acts as a hard boundry thatseparates Austin in half. The design exposes the structureof the existing hospital to create a path through it to make thesite more walkable.

Views of nature, existing structures, and creating views to the site guided the design of the proposal for the Houston Methodist Surgery Center. The proposal uses theexisting concave form of the Research Center on the site to create a correlating convex form, to take advantage of existing views of nature, such as the waterfall of the Texas Medical Center Commons Garage. The proposal uses gardens, in front of the building, and on the fourth floor terrace to create views to the site. Views of nature have been shown toreduce time of hospital stays and decrease stress among patients, nurses, and physicians.

The Fort Worth Stockyards were an economic hubduring the late 1800s through the mid 1900sleading to the development of the city of Fort Worth.Parts of the Stockyards are in disrepair, while the rest of the Stockyards serve as a tourist destination, giving people a glimpse of the Western culture thatgave Fort Worth the nickname Cowtown. The proposal for a marketplace to be added to the Stockyards seeks to revitalize the entire Stockyardsarea by creating a modern icon to draw people in,and to draw people to the Southern area of the Stockyards, which is currently unused. The moderniconic building pays homage to the Western culturethrough the use of a canvas and wood shading structure derived from the chuck wagon of the Western culture. The proposal also rehabilitates some of the existing barns on the site by adding offices and retail space to the interior of the barns, creating a pedestrian mall through the barns leadingto the proposed marketplace. The shading structureallows for more Northern and Eastern natural light, while shading Southern and Western light.
