ABOUT ME

When I get the opportunity, I enjoy playing sport such as badminton, traveling and art and design. I also try to get outdoors often, running and cycling for fun and to keep fit. In 2011 I completed the silver Duke of Edinburgh award, helping my teamwork and leadership skills. More recently I have taken part in various events including the Cross Bay Run – 13 miles across Morecambe Bay - and two 12 mile Tough Mudder assault courses, an event requiring training, teamwork and perseverance in adverse conditions!

EDUCATIONCurrently studying BA (Hons) Design For Industry at Northumbria University, Year 2 (2013-2017)

Lancaster Royal Grammar School (2006-2013)

10 GCSEs A*-CPREVIOUS EMPLOYMENT

2015I am currently employed at St. James’ park, serving at a bar on match days.

2014During the summer, I worked for Next at Newcastle Silverlink in the warehouse over the sale period. This was a very busy time where good teamwork and communication were essential.

In May 2014, I was recruited to take part in Newcastle Fashion Week as a model for the Fashion BA (Hons) student’s final show. I found this very interesting, seeing design in another context other than my course.

2012+ Since May 2012 I have worked as a self-employed gardener in my home village. I am used to working for lengthy amounts of time, following closely instructions from the client and tidying up after myself. I have been commended for the quality and speed of the work I undertake.

Introducing: The Cabin Cog!

A revolutionary way to prevent spills in turbulent conditions, whilst retaining the authentic drinking experience.

Made of flexible PS (polystyrene), the cabin cog is lightweight, re-usable and recyclable. The flexibility allows the Cog to fit into a variety of cups and stay in place.

CHEMOTHERAPY BUS

York hospital oncology department wanted to find a way to provide chemotherapy treatment to patients who lived in rural areas, without them coming into hospital. This is where the idea for a treatment bus came about.

To make the project a more thorough investiagtion, we split into groups. These groups included Inspiration, Branding and Awareness, Physical Geography, the Bus itself and Data and Logistics. My group were looking into Data and Logistics.

Appointment ATM/Kiosk

An ATM-type-machine installed in a village could allow people who do not have the technology to book appointments online to be able to use this service. Often, the elderly are left out in this

world of rapidly advancing technology. The NHS ATM aims to provide an easy means of checking and changing appointments.

STARTACART“Startacart is a service that offers small businesses a short-term portable platform on which they can sell their products without the overhead expenses of owning a shop or unit. The aforementioned portable platform is a bicycle cart with space to store products (in the same way as a market stall), with optional attachments that cater for their area of business. Our profit will be made by renting the bicycle carts to clients for an agreed period of time.”

The bike can be hired for a minimum of 2 days up to a month. The cart can then be purchased on a monthly

contract if the client want to carry on trading.

LEGO MANCreate from scratch a 3x size lego minifig.Materials used: MDF, Jelutong, Pink Modelling Foam.Processes: Precision measuring with digital calipers, plan drawing on Illustrator, manufacturing using a range of workshop machinery.

HEIRARCHICAL FORMSCreate a series of interesting shapes whose theoretical ‘value’ increases each time. These forms were made using gray foam, painted with 13 layers of white emulsion. Each layer was carefully sanded with increasing grit to give a silky smooth finish.

DIGITAL PROJECTS

Here is a selection of work made using computer applications.

Using Solidworks, I modelled a unipin Fine Liner pen. This proved challenging as I had to cut each component of the pen in half to find out the exact dimensions inside and out. I then rendered it using Photoview 360, and graphics drawn in Adobe Illustrator.

Rhino5 was used to create the wristwatch, and was rendered with VRay. I measured my own watch very carefully with digital calipers to create an accurate representation.

As for the Aston Martin wrapper, the brief set was to create a chocolate bar under a certain brand. Here, I had to examine the brand values and apply them to a product not normally associated with the brand. Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator were used to make this wrapper.
