SUSTAINABLE FACADE
A solar shading system responsive to the sun at different orientations is being integrated into the facade curtain wall. On one hand, the shading system reduce glare and excessive heat gain for the interior, thus enhancing the indoor environment for users. On the other hand, along with insulated glazing units, the optimized performance of the facade system will minimize the need of climate control and the building’s energy consumption. Not only does the shading fins provide sustainable benefits for the project, it also defines the architectural aesthetics and reflect the building’s identity as a green architecture in the area.

Solar Shading FinsCoherent design language of shading fins define the overall building aesthetics, and express a visual statement as a sustainable icon in the neighborhood.
Shading Fins at office levelTogether with blinds and slanted ceiling, the solar shading fins serve as an integrated system to prevent excessive solar heat gain and interior glare, but allow desirable amount of natural light to enter, thus reducing the needs of climate control and artificial lighting, and maximizing indoor environment quality (IEQ).
Main Entrance CanopyTo echo the dynamic flow of solar shading fins, the canopy at main entrance follow the form of ribbon. By providing different angles of upturned bracket, the canopy highlights the entrance space and create a continuous cover for pedestrians. The tip and tail profiles of canopy cladding are also in coherence with solar shading fins to achieve the unity of whole building.
Canopy Design ProcessBy using Grasshopper, the shape of canopy is confirmed by different trials of tilting angles and cantilever distance. Then the skeleton of structure and glass panels are added in consideration of both aesthetic and structural requirements. The final profile and detail of canopy is discussed with facade consultant and the drainage/water seal issue are carefully settled.

Single Block Residential Developmentat Camp Street 152.
INTRODUCTION
This project is a single block residential building with 4 units per floor, which presents the typical domestic design in Hong Kong nowadays. Functionally, the building was divided into four parts: shops and entrance lobby at G/F, club house at podium level, typical floors with same units plan and special units at top of building. The major design feature is using large area of curtain wall system, thus it is important to make divisions on facade in consideration of window sizes for different type of rooms and also water proofing issues. To fulfill such design requirement, it is also critical to coordinate between main contractor and curtain wall sub-contractor during construction period to avoid defect. Throughout this project, besides planning and detail design, I also involved with administration works including tender interview, government drawing and documents submission, site inspection and meeting, and shop drawing approvals, throughout tender period to completion of the building construction. By participating all these jobs in 1.5 years, I experienced a complete picture of building construction and learned to consider architecture design in advance of reality problems.

Building Plan
As the site is small and constrained by neighbor buildings, the building plan is extremely tight. It is difficult to arrange units in consideration of several aspects especially the layout of water pipes, drainage and air condition units. Frequent coordination meetings with contractors to resolve E/M and structural issues are required at early stage of the building construction.

SITE EXPERIENCE
This project enriched my site experience a lot. I was invovled in checking the structrual frame drawings & EM combined drawings, inspect the condition and defects on site according to the drawings, preparing material board for present and record, coordination between main contractor and fitting-out contractors, etc.

INTRODUCTION
The Project is located at a site with 27000 sqm to build 78200 sqm gross floor area residential communities. According to the site constrain and orientation, we created a layout of “pointed towers” which is distinct from normal Hong Kong residential design. Proposed “Point Towers” arrangement gives a more dispersed development massing without sacrificing any development potential.1. It maximizes views by having longer perimeter length and 360 degree viewing angle2. It creates more open spaces between towers for free air ventilation and sunlight penetration3. It maintains visual corridors between the site and the surrounding natural environment4. It minimizes the massiveness of wall effect and advocates healthy livingFurthermore, we utilize large plants to provide the underground car park natural light and breeze, and enrich the space by visual connection.

HOTEL ENTRANCEFEATURE WALL/RUSTED METAL PANEL
The design of hotel entrance focused on feature wall and industrial style material to echo the building facade. Feature wall is formed by three layers overlay together with site map, cellular shape and butterfly pattern to emphasis the content of the ho-tel. Rusted bronze panel is chosen for en-trance wall material which is also divided by patterns. After further research with sup-plier, a new kind of material which is spray print to imitate rusted metal is selected.

Ocean Garden Residential Developmentat Dalian Coast
INTRODUCTION
The master layout plan of Ocean Garden project is based on the zoning of functions, site orientation and building facade design styles. The site is large and is divided into 5 parts of residents. All these group of residential high-rise blocks are in the form of half circular shape to maximize the view of each building and enclose a private garden at the same time. To echo the sales strategy of clients, we also make small variation of preliminary facade design according to prototype of building. Besides residential function, the development also include small scale office, club house, kindergarten and shopping streets. These elements especially shopping streets are used to separate different residential groups and help to create pedestrian circulations.

Layout Plan
Shop StreetShops and other facilities of the community are all located in the center street. Several Plazas are arranged to create proper entrance and public space for different zonings. Besides layout plan, general facade design of shopfront are also provided to echo the neo-classical style of residential buildings.
Villas and LandscacpeAs some villas can’t enjoy the sea view according to its location, landscape with small ponds are provided. A group of villas will form a circular shape to enclose the ponds. For building design, two units will share a structrual wall and a double volumn space will be created which is facing the landscape
KindergartenA kindergarten is required for the community and located in the corner of the site. The key design issue is the client will use this location as a sales office at early stage and use the existing construction to rebuild into kindergarten. Thus, a multi-hall with large opening is used to be functional for both sales office and kindergarten
Studio Office10 two floor high office studios are distributed along the road facing sea shore. The ground floor of these studio will be used as exhibition areas which are connected by a covered walkway. The main entrance of community is in the middle of these offices and forms a center pedestrian .
