Portraiture Sketching
Practice Always Makes Perfect
This short publication of 9 portrait sketches is meant
to both encourage and teach that practice makes per-
fect. Each sketch, descending from the top, follows my
progress in trying to perfect and better my technique
through identifying mistakes in the previous drawing.
Whilst of course there is always more to be done, these 9
sketches should neatly show how you can gradually improve
through the simple theory of practice, judge, and practice
some more with the aim of improving as much as you can.
I hope you enjoy this short collection, above all it is meant to
be a gradual progression from heavy shading and outlining to a
more gentle and subtle use of shading to distinguish features
and outlines as well as increase the realism of each piece.
By all means if you should have any questions or would like to see
more of my work, either later or earlier pieces, please do let me
know via my website. I am always keen to reply as soon as possible.
