PLASTEX 2018 attracted 14,305 trade visitors from 12 countries setting a new record in trade visitors numbers. One of the main highlights this year was the significant increase in show space allocated to raw material section due to increase of the participating companies at this sector this year including Sadara, the Principal Sponsor and Borouge the Gold Sponsor. The total space of the show this version was 19,000 sqm and total num-ber of exhibitors was 386. During the four-show days, PLASTEX 2018 wit-nessed floods of visitors coming from regional countries such as Ethiopia, Ghana, Germany, Jordan, Kenya, Morocco, Nigeria, Oman, Saudi Arabia, Sudan, UAE. They were all looking for latest technologies, and many of them were willing to purchase. Another plain indicator, as per Salman Abu Ham-zeh, PLASTEX 2018 Exhibition Director, was the number of companies who showed much enthu-siasm to sign for the next version of the show in 2020. “Although PLASTEX is in its 16th version, it is still growing significantly both horizontally and vertically; more exhibitors, larger exhibition area, and more visitors from regional countries and we expect the show to keep growing for the next version in 2020”, said Abu Hamzeh. Being orga-nized each two years, the next version of PLASTEX will take place during the period from 9-12 January, 2020 at the same venue.

• 97% of Exhibitors stated that ex-

pectations for future sales were met or surpassed

• 74% of visitors confirmed an order

whilst at the show

• Exhibitors took an average of 18 orders/exhibitor at the show

From 18-21 January 2018, Egypt International Exhi-bition Centre (EIEC) witnessed the launch of the 16th version of PLASTEX, the Biggest International African Exhibition for Plastic Industries. More than ever before, PLASTEX 2018 was the largest and the most successful version in the show history that was first launched in 1993. About 35% increase in show space, 15% in number of visitors, a new rec-ord in business deals and great appreciation for visitors’ quality are all indicators of how successful this version was. “One of the reasons behind PLASTEX success since its debut in 1993 has been the ability of being a dynamic event. PLASTEX lets no stone unturned to bring the latest technologies and trends to our honored visitors from Middle East and Africa. A special Buyers’ Program attracting trade buyers from North and East Africa, new venue, new brand-ing and above all a new co-organiser are some of the new features about PLASTEX 2018”, said Ah-med Mostafa, PLASTEX Project Manager. Participating companies had been closely following the recent developments in the regional plastics industry and thus featured their best offerings at the most affordable prices. Manufacturers and traders from all over the region were carefully eye-ing the machinery and technologies displayed in the fair, so participating countries and organizations were emphasizing their competitive edge in areas such as price, technology, ease of maintenance, availability of spare parts, after-sales machinery service, and user training.
