Power Electrics in the NewsPrime time coverage for Power Electrics at Silverstone

Nothing beats the atmosphere at Silverstone and this year’s British Grand Prix proved no exception, especially for one of Power Electrics Generator’s drivers, when Paul Di Resta and David Coulthard

hitched a lift across the course in his truck during the F1 coverage on National TV.

For the 10th year running Power Electrics Generators, the UK’s leading independent supplier of special-ist generators for sale and rental, supplied Silverstone’s event coordinator, 360 Creative Event Services, with multiple synchronizing generators ranging from 100kVA to 500kVA. The units provided power for Silverstone’s main corporate hospitality areas including; the British Racing Drivers Club, heliport power and a number of merchandising and food outlet areas. The Company also provided on-site support for installation and decommissioning and an on-site engineer over the event days.

Power Electrics go to the Races

Power Electrics Generators has recently won a three-year contract to supply the UK’s largest racecourse group, Jockey Club Racecourses (JCR), with a selection of rental generators, electrical distribution, cables and tower lights. The agreement covers JCR’s fourteen racecourses, includ-

ing Aintree, Cheltenham, Newmarket and Epsom Downs, which host the likes of the John Smith’s Grand National Meeting, Cheltenham Festival, Guineas Festival and the Investec Derby Festival.

The agreement includes the provision of fuel, engineering support and full site management and generators ranging from 15kVA - 1000kVA and a number of multiple synchronising 500kVA units.

Power Electrics was awarded the contract following a three month tendering process, which included liaison with the core technical management team and JCR’s main venues.

Jockey Club Racecourses is part of The Jockey Club, which has been at the heart of British racing for more than 260 years and is today the largest commercial group in the sport. All of the The Jockey Clubs profits generated are reinvested back into racing.

As part of Power Electric Generator’s business development strategy, continued expansion plan and commitment to customer service it has added a new load bank to its fleet. The 2.2mVA Froment MC1C;

a combined resistive/inductive unit which enables non-unity load testing.

Load testing a Generator or UPS is essential. Without it users can never be confident that their standby power equipment will work in that crucial moment that it is needed. There are two ways to undertake a load test - a full Mains Failure Simulation affected by throwing off the circuit breakers on the electricity supplies and allowing the system to pick up the operational load, or by attaching Load Banks to the system to simulate it. Clients can have their loads tested onsite or at PE’s Bristol headquarters. This can be under-taken as a ‘one off’ or as part of a maintenance plan by the company’s highly trained engineers.

PE’s’ Service Sales Manager, Leigh Preece commented; “Power Electrics has an unparalleled reputation as a specialist Generator business whose detail to service is second to none. All our engineers are highly skilled and fully conversant with all aspects of diesel power Generation. The new load bank is an excellent addi-tion to the fleet and allows us to conduct both automatic and manual test programs. We are committed to providing first class Load test services to our customer’s generators and this investment will help us to deliver that.”

Load banking is also a key part of maintaining Power Electrics hire fleet as well as an integral part of commissioning and test-ing new Genset installations. The company has a wide range of load banks and provides a nationwide service.

MOVEMBERcHARITY cHALLENGEOn Movember 1st, the Power Electrics team started with a clean-shaven face and then for the

rest of the month, these selfless and generous men, known as Mo Bros, groomed, trimmed, and waxed their way into the annals of fine moustachery. Supported by the women in their lives, Mo Sistas, the Power Electrics Movember Mo Bros raised a massive £2,021 by seeking out sponsorship for their Mo-growing efforts.

With some famous faces around the UK and world taking part in the chairty event, including the likes of Gary Lineker, Stephen Fry, Jenson Button and a host of football players, more than 250,000 people registered for Movember this year raising a total of over

£15 Million.

THE HIsTORY Of MOVEMBER

Seven Nightly News aired a story in 1999 featuring a group of young men in Adelaide who claimed to have come up with the idea of growing moustaches for charity in what “snowballed into a Mo-phenomenon, with people across Australia joining up. In the news report, members of the Adelaide-based “Movember Committee” explained how they came up with the idea for Movember one night in the pub. The group

was said to have 80 men from Adelaide and interstate involved in the event, and aimed to raise money for the RSPCA through selling T-shirts in what they termed “Growing whiskers for whiskers”.

Since 2004, the Movember Foundation charity has used Movember to raise awareness and funds for men’s health issues in Australia and New Zealand. In 2007 the foundation launched events in Canada , Spain, the United Kingdom, and the United States. In 2010, over 112,00 UK Mo Bros and Mo Sistas got on board and raised £11.7 million.

The Rise of www.powerelectrics.com

Connected to Power Electrics website is a tool called Google Analytics. This allows us to track how many people our visiting our website every day, and can tell you

anything about visitor, including the time they spent on the site, number of pages visited, what pages they visited and even where they are visiting our site from in the country or world.

The graph below shows how many visitors our website get each month.

To try and increase this number even further we are consitantly working to increase our Google Page Rank - this is the page number that Power Electrics will appear on. For example, if someone types in ‘Diesel Generator Hire’ into Google, six months ago we appeared on page 11, currently we are appearing on 2 and we will work on getting this onto page 1 of Google. The same applies to over 20 search keywords which relate to all departments, to try and get the number of website views up and ensure more people know about Power Electrics.

big spike in April - this is due to adding four advertising campaigns on Google focused on different department. By targeting the adverts to customers who search for a general term - eg Generator Servicing - we can ensure our advert is at the top of the page, mean-ing more people will click through to our website that our competitors.
