Use the following verses to pray for yourself and your

adult child.

Lord, Jesus, I praise you that the very purpose for which you came to earth was to set us free -- from the bondage of sin and from its effects on our lives. Because of this, I know you have wholeness and healing for my child and for me. Where I have been battered from the sins of others, I pray your Spirit would guide me to the whole-ness that results from your presence in my life. Change me! Change unhealthy patterns within me! God, I know that sin can be carried down through the generations, but let the specific sins of ______________________, _______________________, and ____________________ be stopped right now with me through the transformation you bring. I know that nothing can stop your love for me or my child, not even past abuse or harm. You, O God, are the only one who can supernaturally restore the years that have been sto-len. Father, I pray your Spirit would shine his light of truth on those parts of me you want to re-store. Speak also to me about the areas of my child’s life you want me to focus on in pray-er. [Spend some time in quiet right now, listening for his voice. Make notes on what you feel he tells you.] I pray for my child that he/she would return to you. I pray that they would see your Truth and no longer be a slave to the sin that so easily entangles them. Father, since I can trust that you have good for my child, I pray you would do what’s neces-sary to soften their heart and turn it to you. May your Spirit reign in their life so that freedom can come. I pray that we would be purposeful about renewing our minds so healing can take place. Break both me and my child away from worldly patterns that trust in ourselves and lack love, peace, and joy. Above all, I pray that your name would be honored through our lives, that your name would be praised when restoration and wholeness comes to my life and that of my adult child.
