*BEFORE FIRST USE: Saturating The StonesBefore using your sharpener for the first time, it is important to saturate the sharpening stones with oil. Let drops of the oil sink into the stones until the oil no longer absorbs, and begins to pool on the surface. Saturate the upper stone by tilting the sharpener back and holding the lid in one hand.

Sharpening Your Rotary Blade

1. Make sure the sharpener is plugged in. Put a drop of oil on both sharpening stones.

5. Open the sharpener and flip the blade over.

6. Repeat steps 1-5 until your blade is sharp. For every blade used in the sharpener the first time, the process will take more repetition. After a blade has already been sharpened, the process will be much faster.

To test if your blade is sharp enough, try using it in your cutter to cut some scrap fabric.

If you wish, you may lock the lid closed with the latch while sharpening.

4. Hold down the lid and push the button for 30 seconds.

2. Place the blade in the blade tray using the blade handler. Make sure the blade is centered.

3. Close the lid slowly, being careful not to knock the blade out of the center.

Power Rotary Blade Sharpener

Do not sharpen newly out-of-the package blades! The TrueSharp is used to hone a dull blade to a near factory-sharp edge. You will not be able to achieve a factory-polished edge.

Damage or nicks on blades caused by pins, etc. sometimes cannot be repaired.

Always use the Blade Lever to remove blades from the sharpener. Avoid using your fingers to handle blades, always use the included blade handlers instead.

Using The Coarse Stones(Really Dull Blades, Nicks, Or Skipped Threads)

Trouble Shooting

Rotating/Replacing The Stones

Sharpening may become less eff ective as metal fi lings build up on the stones. Regularly cleaning and rotating your sharpening stones will yield the best results. Each stone has four usable sides.

CleaningClean the stones after each sharpening using a moist cloth. The stones can also be removed and cleaned under running water using a mild detergent.

Some blades may be “skipping threads” as you cut. Some blades that are very dull may be unable to consistently cut even a single layer of fabric. For blades such as these, you can use the coarse stones to make the sharpening process faster.

If following the above instructions does not produce sharper blades, the following things could be checked to assure the sharpener is working at the highest level.

Mark the edges of a blade with a marker. If sharpening wears away the marks from the beveled edge, the sharpener is working.

If a gouge begins to form on the stone, it will no longer sharpen. Turn the stone to a fresh side, or replace it.

• Replace sharpening stones with the coarse-grit stones provided in the kit. • Perform the sharpening process until the blade is sharp or begins to cut easier.• Replace the coarse-grit stones with the fi ne-grit stones.• Repeat the sharpening process with the fi ne-grit stones two more times to fi nish and sharpen the edge further.

Make sure the stones are placed all the way down in their holders. If part of the stone is raised, or not all the way in, it will dull your blade.
