approaches and then get on your phone to set appointments for 30 minutes before wrapping it up with 10 minutes of celebration. The following are stories from business builders who are finding Power Hour gives their businesses wings:

JANE CYRUS, EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR IIJane Cyrus’ organization grew by 75 customers in June, and she says a large part of the credit for that success goes to Power Hour. “I was doing Power Hours with just me and a small group before, but then my Regional Director, Tiffany Driggs, called me and we started doing it with a bigger group,” she says. “We’ve had as many as 120 phone calls made in 30 minutes. Crippler? No one can get more appointments than I can!” he’d type, and the response would come: “I just smoked the Crippler! I’m up to five appointments.” After the phone session ended, everyone got back on the conference call for some recognition. “If you’re going to run one of these Power Hour meetings, you have to join in and make it fun,” Christian says. “I put myself out there, and I knew I needed to get some good results. Well, I thought I’d beat everybody, but I didn’t even make the top five. Still, I set four solid appointments.”

DIANNE GRAY-WYSOCKI, SENIOR DIRECTOR VIIDianne Gray-Wysocki started doing Power Hour with the rest of Executive Director IV Sandie Siemens’ leadership team back in the spring. When she saw what it did for her personal business, she immediately integrated it into her meetings with her team leaders. “I was just amazed at how huge my courage was when I was at a Power Hour,” she says. “Instead of second-guessing myself as to whether the person I was calling would be interested, I just called. I was thinking, ‘I just have to get a result so I can put something down on the chat website and show that I’m being proactive.’ I wasn’t get-ting all wound up about who I was calling—I was just doing it.”

Every Monday night, Dianne gathers a group, and they all hop on the phone. The Monday after Convention, Dianne’s group of 10 set 39 appointments. “I can’t say enough about Power Hour,” she says. “I wish we could do a Power Hour every day—I’m that passionate about it.” M.S.

CHRISTIAN CRESCENZO, EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR IIIChristian Crescenzo’s organization met for a Power Hour where they made 120 calls and set 47 appointments—39%. And while it’s too early to tell how many of those will become Pre-ferred Customers, Christian’s already sold on the activity. “We just shared a brief outline about how to do a natural approach,” Christian says. “And we emphasized that the whole purpose of the call is just to get an appointment, not to get somebody interested about Melaleuca.” Christian’s Power Hour group went from the conference call to connecting on a chat site. Then, like the ring of the bell at the race track, Christian signaled that everyone would have the next 30 minutes to make as many appointment-setting calls as they could.

“What makes this whole thing work is the fact that if you’re not brief, you’re only going to get so many calls in,” Christian says. “And that makes the call more effective because there’s a sense of urgency: ‘Hey, I need to go in a minute, but I wanted to reach out to you to see when we can get together. I have to let you go, but let’s set a time really quick when we can meet up.’” When someone scored an appointment, they’d type a mes-sage on the chat site and encourage their whole group. Christian, whose screen name was “the Crippler,” kept things lively by making the session into a game: “Who wants to challenge the
