Appreciation of the poem
The poet says, the emperor knew that in the stream of life everything, including life, youth and wealth would float away. Shah jahan’s only dream was to preserve his heart’s pain forever. The harsh thunder of imperial power would fade away as the crimson splendor of sunset fades. But Shah jahan hoped that atleast a single eternally heaved sigh would remain consoling the sky.Instances of simily used in this poem 1. The fading of imperial power is compared to the climpson
splendor of sunset2. The glitter of rainbow tricking out empty air is compared to the
splendor of emeralds , rubies an pearls.
