Management education in India is hardly 50 years old. It is precisely designed to develop the business decision-making skills of students. Developing nations, who are seeking to join the developed countries, know that they must create a global educated work force. Management education could play a vital role in synergizing the efforts of the producers and the consumers on a common platform.” In new economy knowledge rather than natural resources is the raw material of the business.”

Management education in India was luxury earlier and necessity today. A graduate degree traditionally provides a well-rounded and broad reaching education, but a master’s degree involves moving up the career ladder into the realm of higher level of knowledge which encourages professionalism.A Master’s degree allows the student to have a further insight of the subject that they feel passionate about.

Competency=Knowledge + Skills +AttitudeKATZ MODEL ON KSA APPROACHKatzmodel (Katz, 1955), recognizes three

different abilities that a manager should possess. Technical Skill is the expertise in domain

‘knowledge’ which makes a person more competent and proficient.

Human Skill enables a person to develop the ability and willingness to work with people, to build relationships, to communicate, and to work in teams.

Conceptual skill brings about expertness, proficiency and tact in the work place.

•ATTITUDE always holds a high priority on every step of the management ladder. •A positive attitude towards people, process and organization makes an efficient manager through emphasizing on strengths and converting weakness to constructive learning opportunities.

There is a misalinged orientation between Education and job. The KSA approach ensures the competency of the management graduates which matches the corporate expectations. To imbibe the methodology of knowledge, skills and attitudes (KSA approach) in the management education, there are certain humps that a management education faces. The pace at which corporate expectations change, creates a speed bump in the growth path of employable management graduates through the formal management education system.

Growing Gap Between What Business Needs and What Education Provides McKinsey just published a groundbreaking study

of the impact of education on employment , and it demonstrates the challenging mismatch between our educational system and the job skills employers need.

Let me highlight a few of the key findings. The paradox of high unemployment and a

war for talent continues.Worldwide educational institutions are out of

sync with employer needs. Students don’t perceive that traditional

education methods drive job skills. While vocational education appears to be a

good solution, it has low or lesser perceived value among students.

•Management education has witnessed a mushrooming growth in India from just 200 MBA colleges in the early nineties to around 3300 MBA colleges today. •There has been a remarkable focus and success on building capacity in management education in India Whereas employability for management students range between 10–20% for roles involving client interaction, it remains below 10% for any functional role in the field of HR, Marketing or Finance. • For instance, only 7.69% MBA-finance students are employable in the BFSI sector, which has created a very large number of jobs in the last decade.

SUGGESTIONS FOR GRADUATESBe mindful of your social media profile online. It's

not uncommon for employers to check Facebook pages and other forms of social media, so keep it clean.

Dress for success! When you go to a job interview, dress like it is your first day at the job. Dress appropriately to create the right impression during an interview.

Treat your search as a full-time exercise: the job of getting a job. You are employed by yourself as a sales person/marketing person selling the product.

Be confident,be sure.
