Our Vice-Chancellor, Professor Ambali, has the same Under the pretense of practicing investigative journalism, surname with the current Dean of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, they publish quick hits and viral stories that are built on alternative although they are not brothers. But in this era, we can make up the facts. But investigative journalism is not a mere exposure that is alternative fact that they are brothers, without any sense of guilt, just strategically concocted to smear political leaders, government to support our mischiefs. Unfortunately, many people that also officials or public figures. It is not about revealing something merely discreetly or openly belong to the mischief gang will accept and sensational that is not, in the least way, useful to re-shaping society. spread the alternative fact without bothering to check the fact. As It is also not about voyeurism, impugning reputation through an Alessia Santoro said recently, “the ability to share these [kinds of] expose that is malevolent. It is about revealing violation of our unfiltered thoughts at such a rapid speed is causing us to skip the part existing standards of morality and dereliction of standards that is where we think about the consequences of our actions” thoroughly investigated and substantiated.

As I was talking with my mentor (Adidi Uyo), an expert in Of course, journalists are also human, and so they have philosophy of communication, recently, I learnt that reality is a their pre-existing opinion and biases, which shape their own narrative, and so individuals have their own truth. As he pointed it out perception of the world. And this is why objectivity, which is the to me, people understand reality, particularly in this era of alternative canon of the professional ideology of journalistic practice, is facts, as they prefer it to be, not as it is; and so we lie about reality nebulous, delusive and mythical. But even then, we should trust without any qualm. The reality, as it is, is that the Vice Chancellor, as a journalists to be capable of preventing their biases from infiltrating Professor of Veterinary Medicine, does call duties in various into what they report to us. Today, however, the trust in journalists is dimensions that people who are not in the field might not know, in lost and betrayed because journalists are already lost in the waves spite of his position as a Vice-Chancellor. But, to make a mischief, we and trends of post-truth era when their reports are opinion-driven, define the reality as we prefer it to be by turning it on its head with an and when they apply less rigorous reporting criteria than in the past. alternative fact that since he is a Vice-Chancellor, he does not get time This is what Blumer and Gurevitch had predicted, as far back as to do any call duties and thus not entitled to call duty allowances. 1995, as the crisis of communication.

These are the kinds of strategic misinformation we are So, today, the majority of stories we read in the inundated with every day of our lives in this era. Unfortunately, newspapers is slanted, although the writers and readers seem not journalists and other media professionals, who have ethical contract to bother because facts don't really matter anymore in this era. with the truth and facts, have also been corrupted by the virus of the Facts to journalist in this era is whatever they feel is true, or what post-truth era. The implosion of the media and simulation of reality, they want us to be taken as true. This is why any journalist could which Baudrilliad talked about, can be interpreted as the concoct his own alternative fact that a former Vice-Chancellor of bastardization of journalistic practice with the trendy disdain for the Unilorin “used his enormous influence and powers to corner his truth, thorough fact-finding/checking and correct representation of official vehicles illegally to himself”,whereas the real truth is that reality. he is officially entitled to take away his official vehicle at the end
