 PRESS RELEASE Judiciary of Guam Supports the Executive Branch Call to Conserve Energy and Intends to Participate in GPA’s Proposed Interruptible Load Program Plan FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE (September 18, 2015)(Guam Judicial Center, Hagåtña)    Along with the Legislative Branch, the Judiciary of Guam supports Acting Governor’s Ray Tenorio’s call to conserve energy. Recognizing the i mportance of assisting the Guam Power Authority (GPA) to sustain energy generation for island residents, the Judiciary intends to  participate in GPA’s proposed Interruptible Load Program plan. Under the proposed Program, the Judiciary would get off of GPA’s power grid and switch to generator power during the peak hours of 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. based on a schedule to be determined with GPA. “With the recent damage to the Cabras 3 and 4 power plants, the Judiciary will do its part to assist GPA in continuing to provide power generation services to the community,  stated Chief Justice Robert J. Torres. “The Judiciary’s intent to participate in the Interruptible Load Program will not affect court services or programs as the switch to generator power will occur after business hours,” noted Chief Justice Torres. Administrator of the Courts Joshua F. Tenorio added, “Internally, the Judiciary shall request that its employees engage in energy savings practices such as turning off air conditioning units, lights, computers, monitors and other items that consume energy when not in use.  Tenorio further stated that, “The Judiciary of Guam is committed to taking steps to conserve energy, to implement energy savings measures, and to eliminate unnecessary power consumption.  For more information concerning this Press Release, contact Dana A.
