    express

    our

    than

    to

    all of you

    who

    participated in the '20-20 ision'

    program

    to make th

    building possible. Lastly

    let

us thank you regular contributors who

    hav

given to our work so that we could transfer

    nearly

    $700 a month to pay o

    the loan taken

    out to buy the

    land.

    Here are

    some things overheard

    about

    the building

    or the Americans:

    "You

    Americans

    use

    such

    heavy

    wood for framing,

    and you use much

    more of i

    than

    we

    do* But, I wonder

    if

    the building will

    be

    able to withstand eart

    quakes*"

Thinking of how Japanese set up

    the

    frame work and complete

    th

    roof

    first,

    one

    lady

    seeing the

    American way

    remarked,

    "Oh,

    you

    build

    you

    buildings

    upside down,

    don't

    you". More

    than anything

    else the

    Japanese

    cannot understand "why" our

    American

    friends c me

    over

    to help. To this

    question Mrs. Harris properly answered

    simply

    "for Jesus and for

    Japan".

    We, ourselves

understood 'why* they came but were amazed at what they accomplished.

    By

    of their departure

    on

    March 22 nd the

    building was

    up with

    roof completed, dry walls

    and

    were on all the

    first

    floor, the house totally

    insulated and wiring,

    water and sewer i

group gathered with Mark and Lynn

    and a

    few Japanese

    in

    the living room

    for a

    Thanksgivin

    on

    the day of

    their departure.

    This

    And there are e x t r a s like

    There

    is

much more that needs to be

    done

    in the way

    of

    outreach

    for

    the church.

    Evangelistic

    meetings,

    youth activities, tract distribution, many

    possibilities.

    These

    call for time and

    manpower. But

    we

    already seem

    to b e

    "booked

    on

    both

    counts.

    Do

    we

    drop

    something and replace it with

    something

else? Can we possibly take on

    one

    more

    thing ? It's a problem.

    T o

    say

    that working in Japan calls

    for

patience is putting it mildly, as this story

    will

    illustrate.

    A friend

    called,

    w o u l d we help his father

    w i t h

    an English

    question?

Three phone calls to make an

    appointment.

    The friend and father arrived.

    Lynn

    served

    coffee.

    W e

    c h a t t e d about 30 m i n u t e s . The

    father t h e n

    said,

    "Now,

    e x c u s e me for coming

    to the

    point

    so

    suddenly, but..." The

    question

    was over the

    spelling

    of

    the

    word

    "strengthened". The

    word

    was on

    an

    inscription the father

    had

    photographed

    while travel

    ing abroad. We

    determined

    that the

    word

    was indeed

    misspelled. This

    process,

    which

    w e

    could easily have taken

    care

    of

    in

    a 1-minute phone call,

    ended up

    being

    an

    hour-and-a-

    half event. This is

    At this Thanksgiving

    Season we look back

    over

    the 23 years you

    have stood

    with

    us in

our ministry to Japan. This leads us to

    say,

    "Thank

    you

    from the bottom

    of

    our hearts" and echo

    a sincere

    song

    of

thanksgiving to our God who has bountifully provided for both

    you

    and us.

    Consider

with us a few of the results.

Kagoshima has for 20 years been evangel

izing with it's own building, with Junko Daikuzono as it's

    full-time

    minister

    and a Christian kindergarten. Koichi

    Ho-

    mori, a Timothy

    of the church now ministers

    at

    the

    Kagoshima

    City Church.

    in Isehara

    City

    for the past

    15

    years

    has

    grown,

    has

    it's own

    building

    and leadership.

(3). Hideto Yoshii, whom you helped train

    in

    the States to be a

    self-supporting evangelist,

    has

    been doing

    just that for his

    last five

    years.

    Then, one

    year

    ago

    when

    his

    new home

    was

    built^

    a

    was included. This is located

    Fukuoka Ken.

    After 6

    years

    in

    Japan working as

    a

    Minister,

    our son

    Mark and his

    wife

    Lynn

    are now

    living

    in

    the newly completed

    building with

    meetings

    of

    Machida Fellowship Center on

    the

    second floor.*

(5). For the past several years Mark

    and

    I have ministered

    part-

time with the Zushi Church in Machida attempting to lead them

    to the

    New Testament

    position.

    As of June,

    this

    year,

    Takeo

Fukuda, a 1958 graduate of Tokyo Bible Seminary was called to

    the ministry there full

    time. They

    also

    sponsor

    the Christian

    Day School,where Cason and

    Clinton

    are

    now

    attending.

    (6).

    Along with Mark, classes

    at

    Qbirin

    University provide

    numerous

    opportunities for me.

    *We co-operate

    with other

    missionaries in

    buying

    literature

    for

    for

    13

    years yet for

    repayment of

    the

    number these along with

    them.

    God gave a gift at

    Christmas

    And had a virgin

    bring it.

    Oh, may

    So that your heart

    Because

    of all the

    God's wondrous Gift keeps bringing.

    And

    when we

    His

    that

    He

has given us the sun and the

    the

    the earth

    with

    it's forests and
